Second Chance Miele WSH 863 WCS PowerWash & TwinDos

The Miele WSH 863 WCS washing machine has useful functions such as CapDosing and TwinDos. The detergent for these functions is a bit more expensive. I do quick washes within 49 minutes with the PowerWash program.

Wash 5 kilograms in 49 minutes
I am fairly impatient and would like my laundry to be clean as soon as possible. So I am very happy with the QuickPowerWash program. With this I was 5 kilograms of clothing within 49 minutes.

Detergent dosage
I often find it difficult to decide how much detergent I need. Thanks to TwinDos I don't have to think about this. I put the TwinDos bottles in the bottom of the washing machine. Here the washing machine automatically takes out detergent and uses just enough detergent for the amount of clothes I wash. I think the only drawback of TwinDos is that when the bottles are empty, a message appears on the display. So if you don't fill it up, you have to click away this message each time.

CapDosing
My friend plays squash fanatically and after an intensive game he sometimes forgets to throw his wet laundry in the washing machine. So I am very happy with the CapDosing pods for sportswear. The capsule contains enough detergent for a sports wash. Even his smelly sports laundry smells nice and fresh after washing. I just think it's a shame that each wash needs one pod. With the number of sports washes I do in a week, it gets very pricey to use a pod every time.

Add wax
What I really like is that the washing machine has AddLoad. This way I can add some extra laundry after the program has started. I find that very handy, because I often forget to throw my dishcloth in the wash. When I first tried the AddLoad function, I had to wait a while until I could actually add my dishcloth. The washing machine was probably working on a part at that time where the door could not be opened. After a minute I was able to open the door and add my dishcloth.

Quiet
The washing machine is remarkably quiet. Even during centrifugation. I didn't think this was that important to me until I had this washing machine with a noise level of 67 decibels in my house. This is really very quiet.

Nice washing machine, easy to use. Very handy that you receive a signal via the app when the laundry is ready. The normal washing program takes a very long time, but with the 'quick' option this can be shortened to 1 hour and 14 minutes (same washing result but with higher energy consumption than the normal program). This option is very nice if you want to run several washes in a day. The quick power wash (clean half a drum in 49 minutes) is also a plus. In addition, it makes little noise.
The TwinDos system is useful in itself, but only if you want to use Miele detergent. The Miele detergent is expensive, but more importantly: it doesn't smell nice, there really isn't a fresh smell to the laundry. If you want to use a different detergent, you have to buy two separate dispensers for 30 euros each. In addition, the automatic dosing (where the machine determines how much detergent is needed) only works with Miele detergent. If you use your own detergent, you have to set how much detergent should be used and it will take that amount with every wash.

1st Miele after having previously owned washing machines from Samsung and Bosch. Hopefully the Miele can convince us of its added value in price/quality and ease of use and longevity.

1st Setup with Miele@Home takes some getting used to, but once everything has been set up correctly (including the Miele app), the washing machine will work naturally.

Extensive choice of programs and options.
Many intelligent features that make washing easier and more economical in terms of the environment and cost savings. The machine calculates the required amount of detergent itself and adjusts the duration of the program to its 'measurement' of the drum filling.

The Miele is a lot quieter than our previous washing machine. Also a lot heavier (+/- 20kg).

Washing result is good.
Drying result (spinning) is ok. Personally, we also think 1400 rpm is a minimum. 1600 RPM was desirable.

Ordered an extra set of refillable Twindos reservoirs for our 'own' detergents. Works fine.

All in all, a great washing machine in this technological age of smart machines.

Hopefully the washing machine will last longer than the usual standard of washing machines, but a Miele should do that.
