Second Chance Logitech G29 Driving Force - Racing Wheel for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC

The G29 is now my 4th handlebar from Logitech. The predecessors were the Momo, G25 and G27.
Each time I have enjoyed several hours of this.
The quality and finish of these handlebars are all great!
However, I have mixed feelings about this purchase. My G27 still worked perfectly. But due to the lack of support for PlayStation 4, there was no choice but to trade in the G27 for a G29.
Ultimately, except for some extra buttons, the steering wheel is identical to the G27. A rubber has been added to the brake pedal to give more resistance when braking. This is a huge plus!
Another disadvantage is that the H-shifter nowadays has to be purchased separately, which makes the total price a bit higher.

Fits very well in the hand, good force feedback and relatively quiet.
The wide range of extra buttons are useful to change certain settings of your car during a race (Traction control, brake balance,...).
The fact that the bottom is flattened is not only trendy but also handy when you use the steering wheel in combination with a PlaySeat so that you have a little more legroom.

Pedals:
Very high quality and very good position. Heel-toe techniques really become very accessible as a result. The extra rubber behind the brake gives it a little more resistance at the end, so you can dose very well at the limit.

Moral of the story: Very good steering wheel, especially for that price. Just a pity that there are hardly any improvements compared to the G27.
Do you need it for PS4 you have no other choice, for PC you are just as well off with a G27.

REVIEW FOR PC Win 7 x64

1. Build
Handlebar and pedals very solidly built. Of course a lot of plastic, but the necessary components made of steel. The steering wheel cover is very pleasant and gives good grip. The gear switches on the steering wheel are also made of metal and shifting is also very pleasant. Even the small buttons feel good, all solid plastic (not the soft rubber stuff). The fasteners for screwing to the edge of the table work quite well.

2. Force feedback
Very strong feedback, I even set it a bit softer in-game. The steering wheel can be set via the menu of each game, but the Logitech software also provides some (limited) options, namely:
for the handlebars the centering spring, the sensitivity, and the range; for the pedals the sensitivity, and then for all the buttons other functions.

3. Pedals
The pedals are super sturdy, with a large platform. They don't slide (on my floor anyway) because of the good rubber and the weight of the whole. There is also a built-in fold-out carpet comb (not tested).

4.Games (PC)
Tested so far with:
- Dirt 3
- Dirt Rally
- Euro Truck Simulator 2
- GRID Motorsport
- Project CARS
All the games listed immediately recognized the steering wheel and after setting my preferences for buttons, sensitivity and feedback, everything worked as it should.

5. Software
Small mention for those who already have a Logitech mouse and/or keyboard on the PC: the software is the same, so only 1 program needs to be installed for wheel, mouse and keyboard.

6. 'Complaints'
- The appearance of the PS4 logo and all the PS4 buttons makes it a bit toy-like (problem with that? buy Thrustmaster)
- No interchangeable steering wheel (problem with that? buy Thrustmaster)
- Slightly outdated force feedback technology (same as G27) (problem with it? buy Thrustmaster)
I can live with it.

7. I want better? Provided additional cost.
+60 euros: Logitech G29 + H-shifter
+150 euros: Thrustmaster T300 RS + H-shifter + 3 pedals
+190 euros: used Hyundai Excell with 160,000 km
+300 euros: used Alfa Romeo 156 with 250 000 km
+300 euros: Thrustmaster T500 RS

Price-quality there are some good Volkswagens to be found... erh sorry. Price-quality, this is a good combination of good (but not best) steering wheel with really good pedals. The T300 is better, but those pedals are less...
