Second Chance Owl Labs Meeting Owl 3

The Owl Labs Meeting Owl 3 is the new version of the Meeting Owl Pro. This conference camera displays a sharp image in a 360 degree radius and is suitable for meetings in large rooms.

First impression
When unpacking the Owl 3, I am immediately greeted by a stylish conference camera. Compared to other conference cameras, I find the Owl 3 relatively compact. This also brings an advantage: I can easily move it between different meeting rooms. In addition to the camera, I find a manual and the necessary cables in the box. I put the table cards with an explanation of how to use the Owl in the included Owl card holder. I like the fact that this holder is in the shape of an owl.

User-friendly design
The design of the Owl 3 is very user-friendly. The 360-degree webcam is on top, so it can get a good view of the entire room. I connect the cables via the bottom and the buttons around the Owl 3 have clear icons. This way I can quickly mute the microphone or turn the volume up or down.

Improvements Owl 3 vs. Owl Pro
The Owl 3 has of course a number of improvements compared to the Owl Pro. The 4 times faster autofocus quickly focuses on me or a colleague when we are talking. This ensures that my meetings run smoothly. The only thing I had hoped for with a renewed Owl, but what is not yet in it, is a 4K resolution instead of Full HD. Fortunately, you hardly notice this, because the image of the Owl 3 is very sharp. Usb C is increasingly used instead of usb A and this has also been taken into account with the Owl 3. With the included USB-C to USB-C cable, I connect the webcam to my laptop and immediately participate in meetings via, for example, Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The Owl 3 has 3 clear speakers, which is one more than the Owl Pro. This makes the sound even better during video calling.

Extend the reach
Another improvement of the Owl 3 compared to the Owl Pro is Owl Connect. With this I connect 2 Owl 3 conference cameras and increase the video range to 8.5 meters and the audio range to 13.5 meters. I find this especially useful during meetings with many colleagues in a large room. The autofocus also works well in these kinds of meetings and everyone can be heard clearly.
