The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is a large, robust smartwatch with a striking design. This is the first square Samsung Galaxy Watch. This smartwatch really works like a small smartphone on your wrist.

New design
As soon as I take this smartwatch out of the packaging, the first thing I notice is the new design. Until now, Samsung Galaxy smartwatches have always been round. I think it's great that Samsung has gone for a new design for their new smartwatch. The watch case is square. Thanks to this angular design with rounded corners, I think the Galaxy Ultra looks cool. The large action button on the side is also new. For example, I can quickly open a training session, the flashlight or my contacts. In practice, I don't use this button very much, but it does fit well with the appearance of the smartwatch.

Large and heavy watch
This is Samsung's largest watch to date. The screen is 47 millimeters in size and the watch case is in addition. This also makes the watch very large. As a result, this smartwatch only fits large wrists and is much too big for me. The watch case is made of titanium. This material is strong and I also like it. But this makes this smartwatch a bit heavy. When I wear it, I really feel clearly that I am wearing it.

Battery life of 2 to 3 days
The Galaxy Watch Ultra has the same battery as the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. As a result, the battery life is not much longer than 2 to 3 days. I think this is a bit of a shame. The watch case has become a lot larger, so it would be very cool if it had a larger battery in it. Thanks to the new chip, the Watch Ultra runs more efficiently. However, I actually have to charge the smartwatch every 2 days if I have exercised with it. Otherwise I'll be without battery halfway through the day. The battery does last longer if I turn off the location and the always-on screen.

Many sports options
The Samsung Watch Ultra is specially made for adventurous outdoor athletes. That's not how I would describe myself, but I do enjoy exercising outside. I ran and rollerbladed with this Ultra. He measured both sports very accurately. After my training, I can see all the data in detail in the Samsung Health app on my smartphone. A new feature on this Ultra is the 'multiple sports' program. With this sport profile I train for, for example, a triathlon or duathlon. I also put together my own sports profile with the sports I want to do one after the other. With one push of the action button I can switch sports during my training or competition.
