In addition to steps, calories and active minutes, you can track all your workouts. A really intensive minute counts for 2 active minutes. The app has an extensive overview of your workouts and your sleep, but there are also good overviews on the watch. (and the weather...) It's not just a sports watch, but by displaying things like stress and body battery, it also helps in other areas to live healthier.
The speed measurement during training is above expectations. At small bridges (0.5 m up) I walk a little slower, you can see them clearly on the map. As a sports watch alone, I think it's a super thing. Things that initially disappointed me (02 measurement was only on request, the screen turned off just a little too quickly) turned out to be adjustable. O2 can be on all day, only at night, or only on demand, the display can be on short, medium or long. Yes, that saves a little bit in battery usage.
You can upload training plans from Garmin coaches to your watch, you can create those plans for free. They adapt to how your training goes. It took some getting used to how you start such a training on the watch. The “view training plan” screen kept coming back.
After an hour of sitting still, you will receive a signal, 100 steps is enough to delete that motion notification. Fitbit counts per clock hour and has 250 steps as a goal. If you've taken 250 steps at 9:03 AM, the next warning will be at 10:50 AM. Then you've been sitting on your ass for almost 2 hours.
Contactless payment is not necessary for me and I have turned off the notifications of mail, apps and telephone. If you want to, you can set it up. There is no possibility to keep track of other measurements (blood pressure, glucose, injury or something like that). You can post comments about training, sleep, etc.
Garmin is not from Google (or Amazon), your data is not used by third parties, I like that.
I find it just as chic with a silicone strap as the Fitbit with a (metal) Milanese strap. It weighs 39 grams against Fitbit with Milanese band 58 grams. Fitbit with silicone band looked really cheapy. It feels light and the size on my wrist is not that bad. There is no bulge on the back of the watch that presses into your wrist, the back is flat.
In short: a pleasant all-round activity tracker, smartwatch, sports and health watch that also looks good.
