What a versatile camera the Canon EOS R7 is. It starts up very quickly, so I take a picture almost immediately. I find this very useful when I suddenly see a photo opportunity. With the fast and accurate autofocus I follow moving subjects. He recognizes, among other things, people, animals and vehicles. I use the camera in dark locations thanks to the image stabilization of 7 stops. I also record stable videos handheld with it. Speed of the camera In burst mode, the camera takes a lot of photos per second, so that I can capture moving subjects sharply. I test this on the street by photographing passers-by. With the electronic shutter I shoot up to 30 fps. Unfortunately, the 95 mb/s write speed of my memory card is too slow, so I can't get the 30 images in RAW. When I convert it to JPEG I take slightly more pictures per second than in RAW, because these files are smaller. Therefore, pay close attention to the writing speed of your memory card when you shoot at these speeds. For example, choose a memory card with a write speed of 200 mb/s. Accurate Focus The autofocus follows my subject and keeps the subject in focus. I notice that the camera doesn't have to struggle to find my subject. He has good tracking. The camera even recognizes vehicles. When I pick a focus point myself, I go all the way to the edge of the frame. This is because the focus points cover the entire image. APS-C sensor with crop Together with the R10, this is the first EOS R camera with an APS-C sensor. This gives it a crop factor of 1.6. I find this an advantage, because then I zoom in further with my lenses. This is useful for sports and animal photography. Also on the street I bring my subjects closer. In this way I take pictures from a distance quite inconspicuously. 7 stops of image stabilization Because of the image stabilization, I also use slow shutter speeds when I shoot handheld. I set the shutter speed a maximum of 7 stops slower. The image stabilization is also useful during filming, for smooth recordings. firm grip Despite the compact size, I hold the camera firmly. I have fairly large hands and don't feel like the camera can slip out of my hand. This is due to the rubber grip. While shooting, I hang the camera around my neck and notice that it doesn't weigh much. The RF-S 18-150 lens I have on it does make it a bit heavier. With the RF-S 18-45mm lens, it is very light.

I've only had the R7 for a few days, but have already photographed a lot with it and I am full of praise for this handy and high-quality device. With its crop factor, the R7 is perfectly usable for bird and landscape photography, for example. The autofocus can be set to people, animals and vehicles and works amazingly. The photos are extremely sharp and vibrant in color. The noise at higher ISO shots is not inferior to that of my R5, which I mainly use for portrait photography.
