LG OLED55G36LA (2023) + Soundbar

The picture is great. Turn off the AI image enhancement. And then also turn off the image sharpening, because it creates strange sharp lines in faces. Then you have a fantastic image, with deep black, bright colors, clearly visible when viewed at an angle and surprisingly few reflections.

We initially did not choose a soundbar, purely because of the appearance. And we don't miss it. There is a surprisingly good sound from such a flat cabinet. Maybe not if you want to be immersed in a movie, but for us it's fine.

WebOS would be the most pleasant TV OS according to many. We come from Android (Sony) and I don't notice much difference. Under Android I could create my own home screen, which was very useful and something I miss now. (Or haven't discovered it yet). The home screen is now full of all kinds of things that I don't use.
And what is also a shame is the limited range of apps. There isn't much, for example the F1TV or Kodi. Streaming via AirPlay is the alternative and works fine, but a native app is simply more pleasant.
The OS does work nice and fast. At least LG uses a modern processor (hi Sony!). And the built-in apps work fine, the media player, Youtube, etc.

The installation goes well without manual. Using a manual is a lot more difficult, the manual for an Ikea bunk bed is a model of clarity compared to what LG supplies here.
This also applies to the paper the size of a ballot paper. This allows you to mark the mounting points of the bracket. If it had been as big as the TV. It sticks out enormously to the left, right and top (yes, you can cut that off), and stops at the bottom halfway up the TV. The idea is good, the execution makes no sense at all. Grab a measuring tape and a spirit level. And throw away those colored tapes too. Nonsense.

The bracket is great by the way. This fits completely into the TV and contains a mechanism that allows the TV to be moved forward by approximately 10 cm. This also allows you to press the TV flat against the wall, without damaging the paint or wallpaper. There is no such thing as just adjusting. One cm higher, lower, left or right? That means drilling again.

The TV is made to hang on the wall. Cables can be clicked behind the TV and fed through the wall (if you have a facility for that, of course). So why LG thinks it needs to install a fixed power cord is beyond me. Now the first thing you have to do with a new TV is cut off the plug, feed the cord, go to the hardware store for a loose plug and then reassemble it. What's wrong with a loose power cord, with a 'figure of eight', that you can feed through the wall?

And finally the remote control. LG calls this Magic Remote. You will see a kind of mouse cursor on screen, which you can control by moving the remote control through the air. And yes, that still works. It works quickly when entering texts. In other uses it is at least unnecessary.
Furthermore, the remote control has six advertising buttons, sorry, six buttons to start streaming services. But there is no pause button. For example, if you want to pause YouTube, you press the round button and everything will appear over the playing screen, then you turn the wheel to bring the mouse cursor into view, and you then have to aim it at the pause button on the screen. .
Then you make such a beautiful TV, and then you leave out such an elementary button. Incomprehensible. (With some apps the green key works as a pause key. But not with YouTube and not with the media player).

Oh, and you can turn off the standby light in the menu. Very nice, then I don't have such a bright red LED on the wall when the v is off.
