Meh. With game computer yes! Without just using the app.

Play HDMI Sync Box
Suitable for screen size
According to our smart light expert
This Philips Hue pack contains an HDMI Sync Box, and a Light Strip with color sequence for TVs between 55 and 60 inches. With this, you let the images on your TV flow into your lighting. So your screen seems larger, and movies and games get a more dynamic feel. You can connect the Hue Sync Box to your TV-receiver or console. With a Bridge, your lights and Sync Box are connected to WiFi, so the lights and TV are connected to each other. A Hue Bridge isn't included. This way, the Gradient Light Strip colors along with your TV and with other Philips Hue lights.
Note: you need a Philips Hue Bridge to color your lights along with your TV.

I love the experience. Really. But to be honest I am considering returning. I want to be able to sync my TV with the box. But it only works as an intermediary between, for example, your game computer, chrome cast, etc. and the TV. But I can't watch netflix or TV just on my TV itself in combination with the box. So yes... then I might as well use the app and buy 250 euros of beer at the bar if the pubs ever open again.

Skeptical because of many complaints about switching sources when connected directly to the TV. But works perfectly in combination with a receiver! I use a separate receiver for the sound and the other connected equipment. In my case, nothing is connected directly to the TV. The sync box works perfectly this way. You connect the sync box to the HDMI out of your receiver (output of the cable that runs to your TV) with the supplied cable. Then you stop the hdmi cable that came from your TV (and you have now disconnected in hdmi 2 or 4 of the syncbox these port(s) support dolby vision etc) Now you can switch sources with remote control on your receiver. This works perfectly for me. Xbox one, PS4, Blu-ray player, and set-top box (ziggo) all work perfectly. Via the sync app you indicate which lamps you want to play with. You can also choose movies or games etc. And control the strength and intensity in the app. Dolby atmos / vision, hdr and hdr 10 plus work perfectly. Do you want light effects with Netflix? Then start Netflix via, for example, the Xbox or PS4, then you also have light effects there. In combination with the new Philips gradient LED strip, it is a pleasure. And certainly an extra experience, especially with movies and games.

The light strip meets expectations. During the day the effect is less visible than at night, this may also be due to the curved TV, which means that the strip is further away from the wall. The light strip works much better than the separate Hue play lamps!
