Pros and cons

According to our VR headset expert

  • This VR headset accurately tracks your movements with 4 cameras and internal sensors.
  • Since you have 2 screens with 2160x2160 pixels, this VR headset offers a higher resolution than 4K.
  • Thanks to the 114-degrees field of vision, you don't experience any blind spots.
  • If you want to use the HP Reverb G2, you need a powerful laptop or desktop with at least a GTX 1060 video card.

Description

Go for a realistic virtual reality experience with the HP Reverb G2. You have a separate LCD screen with a 2160x2160 resolution for each eye. These two combined provide more pixels than a 4K screen. This VR headset has 4 cameras and internal sensors to accurately register your movements. When your arm moves, the Reverb translates it to the virtual world with a lot of precision. You can adjust the lens spacing, so you see the images sharply. This VR headset also supports SteamVR and Windows Mixed Reality. You can both use this VR headset to play games and for business purposes, such as a practical course in virtual reality. In addition, the included controllers have an ergonomic design, so they're comfortable enough to use all day. This HP Reverb G2 v2 also comes with some nice improvements over its predecessor, the v1. This v2 has a new cable, so there won't be issues with AMD hardware anymore. Since the v2 has a new face mask as well, you'll have a broader field of view. In addition, the cameras of the headset have a broader field of view, which makes the tracking of the controllers more accurate.

My first VR and an instant hit.

  • Sit comfortably
  • Pretty good sound
  • Easy to connect
  • Whacking your head or your hands against the real world

When I opened the box I saw a neat product. Everything neatly packed in cloth bags. It starts with uncoiling the long 6m cable as it has to be connected to the goggles and this was very easy. 2 cables (USB 3.0 and displayport) into the computer. Insert the power supply into the block that connects the 2 cables to the general cable that goes to the glasses. Plug in the power supply and windows saw it right away. Set whether you are a seated person or someone who is moving (demarcate area) and link your controllers. In MSFS 2020 I was immediately banging my head against the cupboard because I wanted to take a look at the co-driver's side. In another game, I knocked a bottle off the table. So you have to be careful not to come into contact with the real world. ETS2 and ATS2, Project cars 2, The curious Tale of the stolen pets and Af Fisherman Tale tested as a game and the preference is certainly for the VR world. SteamVr and Windows Mixed Reality also worked immediately. In my case, these VR glasses were just plug and play. It fully meets my requirements and there is still a lot to discover in the VR world.

not cheap but a good investment

  • Great 3D experience
  • high resolution
  • good sound
  • some images a bit blurry

I bought these glasses mainly for the flight simulators and the difference between looking on a screen or - as it were - actually sitting in a cockpit through the glasses is big. It would almost make you afraid of heights. And of course there are other 3-d applications, such as the VR websites of, among others, CNN
