Create a personal cloud with the WD My Cloud Home 4TB NAS. You can connect this external hard drive with the network, which gives you access to your own photos and movies from anywhere in the world. This way, you can easily stream a movie from your smartphone to your television without the need for a computer. You can also edit holiday pictures at home and look at them with a friend on the couch. You don't even need to bring a drive or a USB flash drive. As you can access the My Cloud Home from anywhere in the world, you can easily create backups of photos and videos that you've made with your phone. The drive is plug and play. Only downside, and I really mean CONS is that there is no offline UI, and completely online dependent. You can only adjust maybe 5 options online. (This was not the case with the previous series of this.) Do you also want to install special software to connect a network drive to your PC? This should be a nose. And technically does everything it says on the packaging. This is not NAS! This is a kind of cloud that you put at home that another company can manage/view...(use?). So fine if nothing ever goes wrong with: - that website (suppose the website WD has moved that link or no control panel) - that nose (which is difficult to connect to a PC from within your own network) - that hard drive (reading activity/performance/user data...... I give up talking about this....... Advice: Buy yourself a synogoly series 217 play (2bay) or 5*series (5 bay) and beyond. Manage everything yourself, use various services and do this all over your lan without messing around. With a 2 bay you get 24 TB

Doesn't like it. Each user gets his own 'cloud' which can be seen as a network drive but you cannot share anything together. I also have a Synology dj115 and it offers everything even though it is outdated. My advice: buy a real Nas and forget the WHC.

In hindsight, I would not have bought the My Cloud Home. I had purchased this to, among other things, store photos and videos of vacations in 1 location and share it with my girlfriend. And for easy viewing on TV or iPad. However, it is not possible to give others permanent access to files (folder sharing). In my opinion, this is a core functionality of a NAS that the MCH unfortunately lacks. It is a pity that this is not explicitly stated on the WD or Coolblue website. Because well after the 30-day reflection period, I now find out via the WD forum (after some confusion from WD) that this functionality will never be included in the MCH, because the product is not intended for that. I now see the device as a fairly worthless product and I have resigned myself to looking for an alternative in the long run. So sorry for the investment. Somehow I still have a little hope that WD will optimize the functionalities of the device.
