According to our keyboard expert
Use the Microsoft Surface Keyboard SC Bluetooth Gray together with your Surface Book and Surface Pro. The keyboard has Bluetooth Smart technology, so you don't need a receiver to connect to your Surface Book or Surface Pro. The top of the keyboard consists of aluminum, ensuring that it stands firm while typing. In addition, the keyboard is compact and will easily fit it in your bag. Lastly, thanks to the low profile keys, you won't make noise when you're typing a long email or report.

Ergonomics
For a wireless keyboard, a compact, light, and elegant device. Connecting to BT was done in no time. A bit crazy that you have to type the pin code on the keyboard, because you don't see that code anywhere, but to my surprise it works :)
There are no OFF buttons on the keyboard. It simply turns off after X minutes, and turns on again by pressing a button. That means if you take it with you in a bag or something, it's better to remove the batteries.
It has an Fn key. If you press it once, it switches, and the F1-F12 keys can then be used as on a normal keyboard. You can still use those useless media functions with the Fn key. Why a full-size keyboard should have an Fn key, especially since it already has 4 extra media keys anyway, is beyond me. Those things aren't that useful, and with a lot of typing that Fn key gets in the way. For example, if you're used to a laptop, Fn+down is the same as Pgdn, and Fn+up is the same as Home, but that sort of thing just doesn't work, so you're easily mistaken if you also work a lot with a laptop keyboard.
In short, you do NOT need the Fn key for the F1-F12 keys, such as with HP keyboards.
What's also cool is that the batteries are just plain AAA batteries. So no hassle with charging with some kind of cable. Just put in new batteries and continue working.
In terms of comfort it is "okay". The keys are a bit spongy, but fortunately they don't require too much force to press. But they are definitely not luxury Cherry switches, which is crazy for such an expensive keyboard. What's also crazy is that all the keys are light gray with white letters. Why the low contrast is beyond me. The keys should have been darker, or the letters black. Low contrast must be hip or something, or it's to imitate Apple (as if they do everything right...)
But after all that nagging, I'd still recommend it. It's just small things, and if you're used to it, it actually types quite nicely. But with all those minor drawbacks, this keyboard really shouldn't cost more than, say, $60. It is WAY overpriced for what it is. Perhaps because there are so few small compact thin light full size BT keyboards, MS just gets away with it.

A bit of an Apple clone and I mean that as a compliment. Types fine, connecting to Windows is super easy and fast. Falls into sleep mode after a certain time, when you start typing there is a small delay. This is no problem in daily use.

Although it is said that you can only use this keyboard with a surface, I bought it for my normal Windows 10 PC and got it working.
When registering the Bluetooth, you will receive a message that you have to enter a code on your Surface. If you do not see anything on your Windows PC, but you enter the code on your Microsoft keyboard, your keyboard is connected and everything works normally.
