At my study we also have a number of scanners from this series, and you could not wish for a better flatbat. If you really want something better you can look at a Flextight X1 or a Drum Scanner, but both are a mistake of the price of such an Epson. The supplied software seems to be from the year 2000. Silverfast is well worth upgrading to v9 Ai Studio - check the website for discounts on Epson scanners! The only drawback is the scan windows that feel a bit too plastic. They open a little awkwardly, and the ANR windows are plastic, which tends to attract dust from static electricity; if you're careful with this though, it's a great scanner, and justifies the hefty price tag.
