According to our compact camera expert
The Panasonic LX-100 is the first compact camera in the world that uses the popular Micro Four Thirds sensor. The LX 100 delivers beautiful, realistic pictures, thanks to the powerful image processor and Leica Summilux lens. The innovation doesn't stop there, however. Recording can be done in 4K Ultra HD quality. The camera can be completely set manually. This allows you to use this compact camera as an all-round camera or alongside your SLR camera.

Bought this camera as a successor to my LX7 and mainly for taking pictures and not for the video function which by the way is very good. As expected, a serious step forward in terms of photo quality. Less noise and more detail in the dark zones and this up to a fairly high ISO setting. I myself try not to go higher than iso 1600, which in many cases is not necessary thanks to the bright lens. Due to this lens with opening 1.7, the bokeh effect is great. Focusing is done very quickly and efficiently. Certainly compared to my LX7. Long doubted between this camera and the GX80. The aforementioned is slightly better on paper, but the LX100 is much better in my hand. In addition, if you want a lens of the same quality as with the lx100 with the GX80... well, then you end up with a more expensive price tag. I also didn't feel like buying another collection of lenses. I like this device because the nod to analog photography with manual operation only is more than successful. Lately there has been quite a bit of hammering on post focusing as a plus, but I don't like that. More and more gadgets, useful or not, distract from the essentials. In my opinion, the LX100 is therefore for the purist who expects top quality and strives for manual or semi-automatic operation.

The Panasonic Lumix LX100 is a real big powerhouse in a small package. As the reviews on the internet indicate, this is a real class camera for the demanding photographer. The leica lens makes this device extremely suitable for city photography and photographing people. I've been completely in love with this device since day 1, and it goes everywhere with me because of its handy nature. Because of this I am always able to take the most beautiful pictures.

Been a professional photographer for years and often dragged around with a bag full of SLRs and lenses from another well-known Japanese brand. I recently picked up the photography thread again for another 'branch of sport'. For a long-term project with many people in relatively small environments, I was looking for a versatile, high-quality, unobtrusive and handy camera, on which I did not use lenses. had to change. After a long search, this seemed to me the most suitable camera and that is absolutely correct. The quality of camera and lens and the many possibilities surprise me every time. It offers a lot in relation to the purchase price. I don't think an absolute beginner will use the many possibilities and may be better off with a simpler camera. The lack of a built-in flash is not a loss, on the contrary. Flash rarely makes photos more beautiful. For motivated amateurs, but also professionals, a absolutely recommended.
