Will the warranty of the Backup Plan be added to the standard 2-year warranty?
You get a standard 2-year warranty on your purchase from us. With a Backup Plan, you can extend this to 3 years (1 extra year) or 5 years (3 extra years) total.
In addition, you're insured for damage that isn't covered by the warranty during this entire time (like accidents, water damage, fall damage, or impact damage) when you have a Backup Plan.

- Backup Plan 3 years = Standard 2-year warranty + 1 year extra warranty
- Backup Plan 5 years = Standard 2-year warranty + 3 years extra warranty

I have a content insurance, do I still need a Backup Plan?
That depends. Did your product break due to a flood, fire, or storm? A content insurance is usually enough. But this isn't the case when the damage is caused by manufacturing errors, unintentional misuse, or theft. What damages Coolblue pays the repair costs for depends on which Backup Plan you choose.

Mobile devices
For laptops, tablets, smartphones, and smartwatches, you can choose from:

Large white goods and large kitchen appliances

What's the difference between the standard warranty and Backup Plans?
You can also cover the costs that fall outside of the standard warranty with a Backup Plan. Each product you buy at coolblue has a standard warranty of at least 2 years. If the product doesn't work well during this period, we'll repair it for free or give you a replacement.
If you get a Backup Plan, you extend the standard warranty with a few years. That means you have the right to a free repair or replacement model if you product doesn't work for longer. You're also insured for fall damage, impact damage, water damage, and manufacturing errors. These coverages go into effect at the same time as the standard warranty. Some Backup Plans even insure you in case of theft, total loss, or damage by unintentional misuse.

What am I insured for with a Backup Plan?
We offer various Backup Plans per product. You can find which Backup Plans are available and what's covered exactly on the product page of the product.
Fall damage, impact damage, or water damage
Have fall damage or impact damage, or was your product damaged due to contact with a liquid? Repair your product via Coolblue. The costs are compensated by the insurance. You only have to pay your deductible.
Manufacturer's errors outside of the warranty
If your product doesn't work anymore and it doesn't fall under the standard warranty or your warranty has expired, the repair costs are compensated by this insurance. You only have to pay your deductible.
Theft
Was your product stolen and do you have an insurance with theft coverage? Report the theft to the police within 48 hours and email the police report to diefstal@coolblue.nl. You'll then receive the current retail price of the same or a similar replacement product in CoolblueCredit, with your deductible deducted. You can then just pick out a new product. Car theft is also covered if there are break-in marks on the car and your stuff wasn't in sight.
Total loss
Something is a total loss when the insured product is so broken it can't be repaired anymore, or if the repair costs more than buying a new product. You'll then receive the current retail price of the same or a similar replacement product in CoolblueCredit, with your deductible deducted. You can then just pick out a new product.
Unintentional misuse
Even damage to your product due to an accident is covered. This damage is caused by actions you've accidentally done wrong. Think of a bra wire that got stuck in the washing machine or clothes that were too sandy or muddy being put into the washing machine.
Research and call-out costs
If you have a Backup Plan for white goods and a technician has to come to your home for a repair, call-out costs will be charged. There are also costs associated with determining the defect, also known as research costs. Both of these fees are covered by this insurance.

How can you insure your product?
On the product page, you can see which Backup Plans we have for your product. You can choose one in your shopping cart. You always purchase a Backup Plan at the same time as the product you want to insure. You can't take out a Backup Plan afterwards.

How do I cancel my insurance?
You can cancel your insurance free of charge for up to 30 days after you took it out. Call our customer service to do so. You'll get a refund for the pre-paid premium. The only condition is that you didn't send in a claim during this period. After 30 days, you can no longer cancel the insurance for the entire duration.
Did you take out an insurance you can cancel monthly? You can of course cancel it with no costs. You only pay the premium until the month of cancellation and you won't have to pay for it after. To cancel this type of insurance, you can also call our customer service.
I don't want my insurance after all. Can I cancel it?
You can cancel your insurance free of charge for up to 30 days after you took it out. Call our customer service to do so. You'll get a refund for the pre-paid premium. Can you return an insured product?
If you've returned your product within 30 days, we'll refund the payment you already made. We'll try to do this as soon as possible, but at least within 14 days after we've received your cancelation. If you've returned your product after 30 days, we'll refund the pro rata amount. The only condition is that you haven't filed a claim during this period. We'll take care of the cancelation with the insurance company.
Can you cancel your insurance early?
You can cancel your Backup Plan within 30 days after purchasing your Backup Plan. Insurances with one-time payments will expire automatically, so you can't cancel those early. If you have a monthly insurance, you can cancel it monthly with a 7-day cancelation period before the next direct debit. You can cancel the contract via klantenservice@coolblue.nl or via 010-7988999.
What's the cancelation period?
If you have a Backup Plan with a fixed term, you can't cancel it early. With monthly insurances, the cancelation period is 7 days before the end of the current month. If you didn't cancel within the 7-day cancelation period, it could be that we haven't processed your cancelation yet. In that case, your cancelation will go into effect a month later. During your current month, you're still insured for damage and accidents.
