I tested the Netgear Orbi 970 series. In my case I had the 2-pack, or the 972. As soon as you open the package you get the feeling that you have something of high quality in your hands. The mesh routers are large, heavy and look modern. In the box I find a card that points me to the Netgear Orbi app. The app guides me through the installation, which is completed within 10 minutes. I'll start with the 'main router'. I connect this to my modem. After this, the app guides me through a number of steps, after which I also place the second station. The app also gives me tips so that I don't place the station too far from the main router. These types of installations sometimes result in frustration and grumpiness if it does not work properly. The opposite was the case with Netgear. Everything seemed to have been thought through and the installation went smoothly. I see this as a big plus. You can set up the mesh system even with minimal technical knowledge. The routers are a striking appearance in your home. You prefer to place them in a central location because of the range. The disadvantage is that you then have a huge device on your TV cabinet. This is not for everyone. I started using the routers after this. I already had a reasonable mesh system at home, so at first I didn't notice much difference. The internet worked well, was not annoying and I had enough coverage everywhere. It was striking that I achieved excellent range with only 2 stations. My other mesh system requires 3 stations for full coverage. The Orbis therefore have an above-average range. To challenge the Netgears, I went to their limits. Download large files on multiple devices, stream 4K via the smart television and multiple smart devices that I gave a command (such as audio or video streaming). The 970 series didn't seem to have any trouble with it. With online WiFi speed tests, I achieved enormous speeds of up to about 1.9 Gbps close to the router. The further away I walked, the more this ended. This can be solved with an extra station, but you will have to dig deep into your pockets for that. The purchase price is the only reason why you would not choose this system. It's the fastest router I've tested and installation was easier than other brands. Do you choose this quality? Then you also pay for this. The Netgears are more expensive than many competitors, and only real connoisseurs will recognize and utilize the high quality of this system. Are you such a person? Then you can't go wrong with this system. In addition, you are prepared for the future. Internet speeds are increasing and we are demanding more and more from our routers. The Orbis have enough wiggle room to last for many years to come, without reaching their limit.

Router and satellites/extenders are well adjusted to each other. Better range and more stable than previous setup of Nighthawk RAX120 and Extender EAX80

Delivers exactly what it promises. For many probably overkill. If you don't want any hassle with wifi range and you want extremely high download/upload speeds then this system is great. It is very easy to install via the app. No more interference and with the 2-pack full range in a three-storey terraced house (155 m2). Station 1/router is downstairs. The satellite on the middle floor. It is a pricey system, but if you do a bit of price watching you can find it for a more reasonable price. The tower looks nice in itself, it is just very big. I replaced my old Orbi system (which I was also very satisfied with) with the 970. The old system cannot be integrated into the 970 series. So you replace the entire system, but there is probably someone in your area who you can make happy with it again.
