A smoothie made with a vacuum blender has a smooth, even structure without air bubbles or foam. Because oxygen is kept away from the ingredients while blending, odors, flavors, and vitamines are retained better. Usually, the color of a smoothie becomes more brown when it has been on the table for a while and the heavy particles drop to the bottom. The vacuum blender prevents this, so your smoothie stays fresh for longer.
Vacuum blender vs regular blender
The difference between a vacuum blender and a normal blender is in the blending process. A traditional blender mixes vegetables and fruits to a juice or puree at a high speed. The heat that is released during mixing has a negative effect on vitamins and minerals. When you blend in a vacuum, you avoid this heating process. When you mix without air or oxygen, the fruit mass moves around the pitcher more freely and won't oxidize as much. This way, the vitamins are retained better.
How does a vacuum blender work exactly?
For the most part, a vacuum blender basically works the same as a normal blender. First, you fill up the pitcher with all your favorite ingredients. Then, you put on the lid and press the start button. But the vacuum blender adds an extra step to the mixing process. Before the vacuum blender starts mixing the ingredients, it first sucks all the air from the pitcher. And because the oxygen disappears, the ingredients expand slightly. This way, cutting and mixing goes more smoothly and evenly.
