7 tips if no or little coffee is coming out of your Philips fully automatic machine

Does your Philips coffee machine make half cups of coffee, or does the water mainly end up in the drip tray? You can often solve this by poking through the coffee outlet or by replacing the O-ring in the brew group. In this article, you can read 7 tips to solve this problem.

Solve problem

Philips fully automatic

Sometimes, the coffee doesn't run out of your Philips espresso machine properly or not at all. We've listed 7 tips for you to solve this problem.

  • Tip 1. Poke through the coffee outlet
  • Tip 2. Reinstall the water filter
  • Tip 3. Get hot water
  • Tip 4. Use the right amount of ground coffee
  • Tip 5. Clean the brew group
  • Tip 6. Descale your coffee machine
  • Tip 7. Replace the O-ring

Tip 1: poke through the coffee outlet

Coffee outlet

Coffee residue builds up in the coffee outlet often, so the coffee can't run through it properly. There are 2 holes in the coffee outlet through which the coffee comes out. When it's not flowing through properly, you can carefully pierce the holes with a needle or a wooden skewer. That way, you can remove coffee residue.

Tip 2: install the water filter again

Replace water filter

The water supply gets blocked when you don't install the water filter correctly. You can prevent this by squeezing all the air out of the water filter before you place it in the water tank. Hold the water filter in a container of water for 10 seconds and gently squeeze the water filter. This way, all the air escapes. Next, place the water filter back into the water tank.

Tip 3: tap hot water

Tap hot water

The machine might pour very little coffee because there's air in the pipes. This way, the coffee doesn't run properly. Remove the air from the pipes by getting hot water from the machine. Fill a few cups with hot water and check if that solved the problem.

Tip 4: use the right amount of ground coffee

Ground coffee

Don't you get any coffee in your cup when you use ground coffee? You're probably using too much ground coffee. As a result, the brew group gets too full and the machine throws the coffee out right away. You can prevent this by waiting to put the ground coffee in the compartment until the machine is ready for use. Use the included coffee scoop and add just 1 scoop of smoothed out ground coffee to the machine.

Tip 5: clean the brew group

Clean the brew group

It's important that you keep the brew group of your coffee machine clean. Take the brew group from the machine every week and rinse it under the faucet. This way, you make sure your machine keeps working well. We're happy to help you with our video instructions.

Tip 6: descale your coffee machine

Descale the machine

The pipes of the machine might get blocked by limescale when you don't descale your coffee machine for a while or when you skip a descaling session. It's important that you descale the machine regularly. All Philips espresso machines have a descaling indicator that indicates when to descale the machine. This way, the coffee runs properly. Watch our useful video instructions on how to descale your machine.
