What do I use vacuum attachments for?
Large vacuum brushes
The large vacuum brushes are the most important for the suction result of the vacuum. If you have a specific floor type, you'll need a specific suction brush. Generally speaking, there are 3 types of large nozzles, the multi-surface brush, the parquet brush, and the turbo brush.

Multi-surface brush, parquet brush, and turbo brush
Multi-surface brush
The most common suction brush is the multi-surface brush. This brush has 2 settings that you often adjust on the brush itself. Put the bristles outwards when you vacuum hard floors, like tiles and linoleum. Use the other setting of the brush to vacuum carpet, rugs, or low-pile carpet. You can also buy the multi-surface brush separately if your vacuum doesn't include one.
Parquet brush
A parquet brush has extra soft bristles, so you can prevent scratches. Do you have a stick vacuum? You'll recognize the parquet brush by its round, soft brush roll. With parquet brushes, you're less likely to suck vacuum. If you have a wood floor or loose hard floor, you'll need a vacuum with a parquet brush.
Turbo brush
A turbo brush has rotating brushes that make the vacuum suck dirt out of high-pile carpets better or pick up pet hair from the ground better. If you have pets, high-pile carpet, or coarse rugs, a vacuum with turbo brush is the best choice for you. Or, you can order a separate turbo brush for your vacuum.
Standard accessories
-
With the crevice tool, you can easily vacuum cracks and other narrow areas. There are also flexible and adjustable crevice tools that offer a larger operating radius.
-
With the upholstery tool, you can vacuum furniture like your couch, car seat, or stairs. The upholstery tool may scratch, so it's not suitable for delicate surfaces.
-
With the soft dusting brush, you can vacuum delicate surfaces without damaging them thanks to the long bristles. Think about a glass coffee table and high gloss furniture.
-
The 3-in-1 or 2-in-1 accessory includes a crevice tool, soft dusting brush, and/or upholstery tool.
-
With the mini turbo brush, you can remove pet hairs even easier thanks to the rotating bristles. You can also use it on your couch or other soft furniture for deep cleaning.
In addition to the large suction nozzles, you'll receive accessories with most vacuums. Or you can order them separately. You use the accessories for the small vacuuming jobs, like the baseboards, bookshelf, or steps. Common accessories for vacuums are:
- Crevice tool (flexible/adjustable)
- Upholstery tool
- Soft dusting brush
- Multi-surface tool (2-in-1 or 3-in-1)
- Mini turbo brush
In some cases, one or multiple of these accessories have been built into the handle. That way, you can easily grab them in no time.
Extra accessories
In addition to these standard accessories, some vacuums include extra attachments. A mopping attachment, for example. Or an up-top brush, which allows you to vacuum the top of your kitchen cabinet too. These bristles aren't includes by default with all vacuums, but are often available for purchase separately.
