3 tips if your printer prints blank pages
Solve problems
If your printer prints blank or half pages, it's often due to a problem with the cartridges or blockages in the nozzles of your printer. You can solve this problem in different ways.
- Tip 1: restart the printer
- Tip 2: check the cartridges
- Tip 3: clean the printhead of your cartridges
Tip 1: restart the printer
Turn the printer off and on. It sounds simple, but it often works. Turn the printer off, unplug the connector from the socket, and wait a minute. Plug the connector back into the socket and turn the printer on. Does the ink still not come out of the printer? Continue to tip 2.
Tip 2: check the cartridges
Check if your cartridges are placed properly. Are the cartridges in the right spot and does the ink still not come out of the printer? The cartridges are probably dried up. You often can't solve this problem. The only thing you can try is to deep clean the printhead. A deep cleaning session is more thorough than a regular cleaning session, but it also uses more ink. You can read how to do so in the following tip. Didn't it work? Replace the cartridges.
Tip 3: clean the printhead of your cartridge
Another cause can be a blocked printhead. Clean the printhead with the following steps. Doesn't your printer have a display? Check the app or the manual of your printer for how to perform the steps below:
- Select Setup or Settings on the display of your printer. If you don't have this option, go to the next step.
- Depending on the brand and type of your printer, go to Support programs or Maintenance.
- Choose Clean printhead or Check nozzles. The printer will now clean the printhead or nozzles.
- After cleaning, the printer will print a test page automatically.
