- Tip 3: check the socket
- Tip 4: give the fridge some time
- Tip 5: check the ambient temperature
Tip 1: wait at least 4 hours before you turn it on
If the fridge was just delivered to you, wait at least 4 hours before you turn on the appliance. This way, the oil flows back into the compressor and you prevent the fridge from breaking.
Tip 2: check the connector
Check whether the connector of the fridge is in the socket properly. Turn on the fridge and check if the control panel or the light goes on. Doesn't is have an on/off button? That means that the fridge turns on when you plug the connector into the socket.
Tip 3: check the socket
Won't the light in your fridge go on, even though it's plugged in? Check whether the socket works by plugging in a different appliance. If that appliance doesn't work either, the socket has to be replaced. You can buy one at a hardware store.
Tip 4: give the fridge some time
If the connector and socket work properly, you can set the desired temperature. It takes a couple of hours before it reaches that temperature, because the fridge has to cool the inside first. You can give it a hand by putting in bottles of water or soda. And make sure that the fridge door is properly closed.
Tip 5: check the ambient temperature
If you've put the fridge in a room that's too cold or too hot, the appliance won't work as it should. You can check the ambient temperature of a fridge on the climate class label on the appliance. It should be the same as the with the temperature in the room.
