Tip 3. Use a descaler by the same brand as your machine
Tip 1: adjust the water hardness
How often you descale, depends on the hardness of your tap water. The harder the water, the more limescale it contains and so the more often you need to descale the machine. The water hardness settings on your coffee machine have been set to the highest level by the manufacturer. That way, your machine always has maximum protection against limescale, but you do have to descale it often. You can test the water hardness by submerging a water hardness strip into a glass of tap water. Go to the settings menu of your coffee machine to adjust the water hardness.
Tip 2: use a water filter
We recommend you to place a water filter in the water tank of your coffee machine. A water filter filters a large part of the limescale from the tap water. Thanks to this, there will be less limescale build-up in the pipes of your coffee machine. This automatically means you'll have to descale it less often. In addition, a water filter ensures a better coffee taste. Use a water filter of the same brand as your coffee machine.
Tip 3: use the same brand descaler
It's always best to use a descaler by the same brand as your coffee machine. This detergent is made for the materials of your machine. It'll thoroughly clean the machine without damaging parts.
