5 tips for using an ultrasonic humidifier
Get started with an ultrasonic humidifier:
Ultrasonic humidifiers use vibrations in water to humidify the air. To get the most out of your humidifier, we'll give you some tips.
Tip 1: don't place the humidifier directly on a wooden surface. Tip 2: give the humidifier some time to do its work. Tip 3: close as many doors and windows as possible. Tip 4: don't forget to clean the water tank. Tip 5: replace the anti-limescale filter after a maximum of 6 months.
Tip 1: be careful with a wooden surface
An ultrasonic humidifier can splash a little. That's why we recommend you don't place the humidifier directly on a wooden surface. If you place the humidifier on a nice scale or placemat, you don't have to worry about splashes on the floor or on the table. It's also important you keep at least 2 meters between the humidifier and electrical devices. Of course, you don't want any water to get on your new TV.
Tip 2: give the humidifier some time
The result of the humidifier isn't always instantly noticeable. Does the humidity drop below 40 percent and do you have a lot of wood furniture and plants in your home? In that case, it'll take some time for the humidity to increase, because wood furniture and plants need moisture to stay in good condition. This means you'll have to refill the water tank more often in the first few days. When the humidity rises over 40 percent, the water consumption decreases and the water tank lasts a little longer.
Tip 3: close as many windows and doors as possible
If you ventilate too much, a lot of (dry) air can get into the room. The humidifier can't keep up because of this. If you still want to ventilate, it's better to open a single window or door instead of two opposing windows and doors.
Tip 4: clean the water tank
To prevent bacteria and dirt from building up in the water tank, it's important to clean the water tank. You can do this by rinsing the water tank each time you fill it. We also recommend you clean the water tank every week with a mild cleaning agent. Don't use corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents. These affect the surface and cause less moist to come out of the humidifier.
Tip 5: replace the anti-limescale filter
Some ultrasonic humidifiers have an anti-limescale filter or cartridge. Depending on the model, you need to clean this filter or replace it. Check the manual of your humidifier to find out what kind of filter or cartridge is in your humidifier.
