Tip 1: download the Sony Headphones Connect app.
Tip 2: adjust the sound via an equalizer.
Tip 3: switch the smart functions on or off.
Tip 4: choose a stable connection.
Tip 5: adjust the Custom button
Tip 1: download the Sony Headphones Connect app
To get the most out of the WH-1000XM4, download the Sony Headphones Connect app on your smartphone or tablet. In this app, you can adjust all kinds of settings that we'll come back to in this article. You can download this app from the Google Play Store and the App Store.
Tip 2: adjust the sound
With the WH-1000XM4, the emphasis is mainly on the bass. It's pretty raw so you'll listen to a powerful sound. Do you want the sound to be more powerful, or even less powerful? Use the equalizer in the app. You can find it in the Sound menu. Here, you can choose from a number of preset sound profiles or create your own.
Tip 3: switch smart functions on or off
The WH-1000XM4 pauses the music and amplifies ambient noise when you start a conversation. This is useful on public transport or if you're at the cash register, but it's less useful if you want to sing along to your favorite song. The sound menu includes Speak to Talk. If you switch off this function, you can sing without being interrupted. If you don't want the music to pause when you take off the headphones, go to System in the app. Here, you can switch off Pauses when headphones are removed.
Tips 4: choose a more stable connection
Your music may falter due to a bad connection. In the sound menu, choose a different sound quality mode. Here, you can choose from 2 options: preference for sound quality or preference for stable connection. Choose the stable connection if the audio lags often.
Step 5: adjust the custom button
The WH-1000XM4 has a button that says Custom. In the system menu in the app, you can set what this button does. You can set it to control the noise canceling or your voice assistant. In addition, you can see right away how often or for how long you need to press the button to activate a function.
