Your old dryer might still work, but it's smart to replace it. A big reason is the energy consumption of your old dryer. Old dryers often have a C energy label or even a D energy label, which use a lot of energy. Since 2020, new dryers need to have at least a B energy label. With a new heat pump dryer with an A+++ energy label, you'll save the most on your energy bill. This way, you can save money for other nice things, and that's better for the environment.

Old versus new dryer
In the table above, you can see a comparison of the costs per energy label. You can see that a B energy label consumes € 1.05 per dryer cycle, for example. A new dryer with an A+++ energy label only consumes € 0.33 per dryer cycle. This allows you to save € 115 per year. Over its entire lifespan, this can go up to € 1150. So it's more expensive to purchase a heat pump dryer, but you'll easily earn back your investment within a couple of years.
Dryer subscription
