With these 3 steps, you can quickly and easily solve problems with the touchpad of your Chromebook:
- Step 1: clean the touchpad
- Step 2: restart the Chromebook
- Step 3: check the settings
Step 1: clean the touchpad
Clean the touchpad first. Use a dry and clean cloth. Next, drum on the touchpad with your fingers for 10 seconds to remove any dust particles and crumbs.
Step 2: restart the Chromebook
Restart the Chromebook now: 1: push the on/off button for 5 seconds and release it. 2: wait until the Chromebook is completely shut down. 3: push the on/off button.
Step 3: check the settings
Go to the settings for the touchpad:
1: click the status area in the bottom right corner. 2: click the Settings icon. This is a gearwheel. 3: scroll down and click Touchpad. 4: make sure the function Tap to Click is turned on. This is the top option.
Optional: perform a hard reset
Do the steps above not work? Perform a hard reset: 1: click the status area in the bottom right corner. 2: click the power off icon. 3: wait until the Chromebook is completely shut down. 4: press and hold the refresh button. You can recognize this button by the icon of an arrow that forms a circle. 5: push the on/off button while you hold down the refresh button.
