How do you solve no image via your docking station?

Doesn't your docking station transmit the image of your laptop to the external monitor? This is probably caused by the USB port or the drivers. These are indispensable for a well-working setup. We'll tell you how to solve this problem.

Try the following tips to solve the issue with the image via your docking station:

  • Tip 1. Install DisplayLink software
  • Tip 2. Update your drivers
  • Tip 3. Check your USB ports and connect your dock
  • Tip 4. Try a different USB port

Tip 2: update your drivers

Many issues are quickly solved by updating your laptop and all the necessary drivers. Make sure your laptop is completely up-to-date. Then check all the drivers of your docking station and update them if they haven't been updated. You can find the drivers on the website of the brand your docking station is from.

Tip 3: check your USB ports and connect your dock

USB-C port

First, check if your dock has a USB port with a 'D' next to it like in the image. This 'D' stands for DisplayPort Alt Mode, a protocol that transfers images to a monitor. Does your laptop have one of these USB ports? Connect your docking station to this port.

Tip 4: try a different port

Connect docking station.

Doesn't your laptop have a USB port with a 'D' next to it? Try the other port on your laptop. That way, you can check if these ports do display the image on your monitor. Still don't see anything? Your ports probably don't support DisplayPort Alt Mode. In that case, we recommend choosing a different laptop or docking station.
