Sony sound problems

With the following tips, you can check if the sound problems of your soundbar are in the installation or connectors. In the end, we'll also explain how to reset the soundbar.

Tip 1: Test the soundbar

Tip 2: Check the settings and connectors

Tip 3: Reset the soundbar

Tip 4: Set the soundbar to factory settings

Tip 1: test the soundbar

Test Sony

To be sure the sound problems aren't caused by the hardware of the soundbar, test the soundbar first. To do so, connect a different audio source. for example, play music on the soundbar from your phone via WiFi or Bluetooth. If you do hear sound from the soundbar now, the problem lies somewhere else.

Tip 2: check the settings and connectors

Check Sony

First, check the settings of the TV. Go through the sound settings of your TV and check if you've selected the correct audio output. You can see how to do that in the manual of your television. Check the connectors by making sure the cables are connected to the right connectors. Did you connect the bar via HDMI? Make sure you use the HDMI ARC connector on the TV, because a regular HDMI connector doesn't work.

Tip 3: reset the soundbar

There are 2 ways to reset a soundbar. There's a soft reset and reverting it to factory settings. During a soft reset, you make sure the soundbar doesn't get any power. Do this by removing the power cable for 1 to 2 minutes and reconnecting it afterwards. After a soft reset, all settings are the same when you start it. If that didn't work, revert the soundbar to factory settings. We'll explain how to do so per model.

Tip 4: revert the soundbar to factory settings
