How do you maintain a Miele washing machine?
Miele washing machine maintenance
You can keep your Miele washing machine clean by regularly performing the following actions:
- Clean the drum at a minimum of 75°C.
- Clean the detergent drawer.
- Rinse the TwinDos reservoir.
- Clean the water supply filter.
- Clean the rubber ring from the drum door.
- Empty the drain filter behind the hatch at the bottom.
Clean drum
To prevent unpleasant smells in your Miele washing machine, clean the drum monthly. You can do this with a cotton cycle at a minimum of 75°C. You can also use the 'Clean Machine' cycle if the washing machine has one. Make sure the drum is completely empty and don't use detergent.
Clean detergent drawer
If your washing machine doesn't have a self-cleaning detergent drawer, you can keep it clean yourself. You do this once every few months. Pull out the detergent drawer until you feel resistance. Press the release button and remove the drawer. Clean the drawer with warm water. Also clean the CapDosing compartment well. Use a soft brush for this. Place the drawer back in the washing machine and leave it open a little. This allows the detergent drawer to dry.
Maintain the TwinDos system
Do you have a TwinDos washing machine? You'll need to maintain the TwinDos system. You can do this with Miele TwinDos Care. You can use this dispenser when you don't use your washing machine for more than 2 months. For example, when you travel. You should rinse the hoses clean with Miele TwinDos Care, so the detergent doesn't lump or dry. You should also rinse the hoses when you switch from the Miele TwinDos reservoirs to refillable reservoirs. This way, the system doesn't become clogged.

Clean water supply filter
Your washing machine has 2 filters to protect the hatch of the water supply. Check these filters about every 6 months. First, turn off the water tap. Unscrew the supply hose from the water tap. Pull out the top rubber seal. Pull out the handle of the plastic filter underneath with pliers and take the filter out. Clean the filter. Replace the rubber seal and then the plastic filter.
Clean rubber ring
Don't forget to regularly clean the rubber ring around the drum opening. Dirt ends up here unnoticed. Make soapy water with hot water and a dash of dish soap. Dip a clean cloth in the soapy water and wipe the rubber ring, including the inside. Finally, dry the rubber with a cloth.
Emptying the drain filter
There's a hatch with a drain filter at the bottom of your Miele washing machine. Clean this filter at least twice a year. Place a bowl and a towel under the filter. Open the hatch and carefully remove the filter. Collect the water in the bowl. Push the filter back into place and close the hatch.
