How do you descale your JURA WE6 coffee machine?
Get started with descaling
Follow the video instructions to descale your JURA in 40 minutes. You can use the descaling program which you can easily select via the display. We'll go through a few steps with you:
- Step 1: prepare the descaling
- Step 2: start the descaling
- Step 3: rinse the machine
Requirements:
- JURA Descaling Tablets (3 units per cleaning session)
- Measuring cup of at least 500ml
- 500ml container
Do you use a water filter? Remove it from the water tank when you descale. Place it back after descaling, or replace it with a new one.
How often should you descale?
When you use the JURA Claris Pro Smart water filter and if you always replace it in time, you only have to descale your machine once every 2 years. That's because this water filter prevents 99% of limescale buildup. The display indicates when it's time to descale. We recommend to use JURA descaling tablets. This cleaning agent is specially made for your coffee machine, so you can be sure it doesn't damage the pipes. You also make sure the warranty of your coffee machine doesn't void.
Step 1: prepare the descaling
- You'll see 'descale' in the middle of the display. Select this program by pressing the 5 water droplets in the bottom right.
- The display indicates descaling takes 40 minutes, press 'start'.
- 'Only use original JURA maintenance products' appears on the display. Press 'continue'.
- Remove the drip tray and the coffee grounds container from the machine. Empty the drip tray in the sink and the coffee grounds container in the trash can. Place both empty parts back into the machine.
- Remove the water tank from the machine and pour the water in the sink.
- Fill a measuring cup with 500ml of water. Add 3 descaling tablets and let them dissolve in the water for a few minutes.
Step 2: descale the machine
- Pour the water with the descaling agent into the water tank.
- Place the water tank back into the coffee machine.
- Put a container of at least 500ml under the coffee outlet.
- Turn the dial open to the coffee cup with a droplet above it.
- The coffee machine starts descaling.
- When no more water comes out of the machine, the display will show 'close switch'.
- Turn the dial back to its 'I' start position.
- After a few minutes, the display shows 'empty container'.
- Remove the container, coffee grounds container, and drip tray and empty them.
- Place back all empty parts from where you took them.
Step 3: rinse the machine
- Remove the water tank from the machine.
- Pour out the last remaining water and thoroughly rinse the water tank.
- Fill the water tank to the 'max' level with fresh water and place it back in the machine.
- Make sure there's a container under the coffee outlet.
- Open the dial in the top right.
- The coffee machine now starts rinsing.
- Turn the dial back when the display indicates this.
- The machine rinses for a few minutes.
- The display now shows 'empty container'. 10 Remove the container and take the coffee grounds container and drip tray out of the machine. Empty them all in the sink.
- Only place back the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
- You descaled successfully. Your JURA WE6 is ready for use again.
