How do you prevent your GoPro from crashing while recording?

It can be frustrating if your GoPro crashes while you're recording. Especially if you just did a 360 backflip with your skateboard for the first time and weren't able to record it. To prevent situations like this one, we recommend using a memory card with a high write speed. In this article, we'll explain how to check whether your memory card is suitable for your GoPro camera.

Check your memory card

When you're going to record with your GoPro, you don't want it to crash. That's why you should check whether you're using the right memory card before you record your action video. If you have a GoPro HERO 9 or older model, you need a memory card with at least a 10MB/s write speed. On a memory card, this is indicated as a Class 10 of UHS-1 rating. Because of the higher image quality, the GoPro HERO 10 and the GoPro HERO 11 have a memory card with a 30MB/s write speed.
