How do you maintain your bagged vacuum?
Get started with maintenance
Get started with the maintenance of your bagged vacuum. Use these tips:
- Tip 1: replace the vacuum cleaner bag
- Tip 2: clean or replace the filters
- Tip 3: improve the suction power
Tip 1: replace the vacuum cleaner bag
After you vacuum regularly for 3 months, you need to replace the vacuum cleaner bag. We consider vacuuming 2 times per week as 'regular'. Don't wait too long with replacing the bag. This way, you prevent damage to your vacuum and the suction power stays high. Do you vacuum more often or do you have pets? Check how full the vacuum cleaner bag is sooner.
Tip 2: clean the filters and replace them
Clean
Clean the exhaust filter once every 3 months. Do so when you replace the vacuum cleaner bag, because that's when you can easily reach it. Clean the motor filter at least once per year. The manual of the vacuum will indicate where to find the filters and how to clean them. Do you have pets? Clean the filters more often. This way, you prevent bad odors.
Replace
Replace the exhaust filter when the vacuum smells musty. This means the filter doesn't work well anymore. The motor filter often lasts longer. Check this from time to time. Listen to the sound your vacuum makes. If the vacuum makes more sound, replace the filter.
Tip 3: improve the suction power
Do you notice that the suction power of your vacuum decreases? Check the vacuum cleaner bag and filters, like we explained above. Doesn't the suction power improve? Keep the following in mind:
- Check if something is blocking the vacuum tube or hose
- Clean the vacuum brush
