Get started with the Omni-glide
Before using it for the first time, it's useful to know how to get started with the Dyson Omni-glide. That's why we've tested it and gathered 4 tips for you.
Tip 1. fully charge it before using it for the first time
Tip 2. empty the reservoir and check the filter
Tip 3. check the fluffy brushes regularly
Tip 4. use the attachments
Tip 1: fully charge it
The first thing you do after opening the box is placing the battery in the charging dock. The battery is fully charged when the blue led light stops flashing. If you charge it right away, you can avoid the battery from being calibrated wrongly, which prevents a decline in battery life. It takes up to 4 hours to fully charge an empty battery, after which you can vacuum for 20 minutes back to back. Place it back into the charging dock after each round to prevent the battery from running empty.
Tip 2: empty the reservoir and check the filter
Empty the reservoir
The Dyson Omni-glide has a dust collector of 0.2L. This is almost 4 times smaller than the regular dust collectors of Dyson stick vacuums. That's why it's important to empty the reservoir after each round. By doing this, dirt doesn't get the chance to build up in the appliance, which could cause possible damage and decrease the suction power. You can also remove the dust cup once every so often to wipe it clean with a cloth, so it will look fresh again.
Clean and replace filter
A clean filter contributes to a good suction power, fresh exhaust air, and the lifespan of your appliance. You have to clean the filter of the Dyson Omni-glide at least once every 6 months. Because it's washable, you can rinse it under the faucet, after which you let it dry for 24 hours. To maintain your filter the best way possible, we recommend you to knock out the filters on a weekly basis. That way, small dust particles won't build up in the filter.
Tip 3: check the fluffy brushes regularly
The dual fluffy brushes of the Omni-glide rotate in opposite direction for optimal dirt collection. Check them for dirt buildup every week to prevent the suction power from decreasing. You can remove the fluffy brushes from the floor attachment by pressing the red hatch. You can then rinse the brushes under the faucet, after which you let them dry for 24 hours. Do you find stuck hairs? Carefully cut them away with scissors.
Tip 4: use the attachments
You can change the Omni-glide into a handheld vacuum in no time by detaching the motor unit from the stick. You'll receive a combination accessory and mini turbo brush. The combination accessory consists of a upholstery tool and soft dusting brush for sensitive surfaces. The mini turbo brush is ideal for removing pet hairs from upholstered furniture. The rotating, coarse bristles clean deep into the fibers.
