The Samsung Galaxy A54
- With this smartphone, you can take sharper photos than with other devices in the same price range.
- You're ensured of security updates until March 2028.
- You can watch movies and series in high quality on the sharp Full HD screen.
- Samsung doesn't include a charger, so you need to purchase one separately.
First impression
I tested the purple version of the Samsung Galaxy A54. This colors is truly vibrant. Compared to the Galaxy A53, you can tell right away that it doesn't have a camera island. The 3 cameras on the back are separate on the device. The back of the Samsung A54 is made of glass and feels luxurious. This device has rounded corners, and it feels comfortable in my hand. Unfortunately, I didn't find a charger in the packaging. In addition to the smartphone itself, there's also a SIM needle and a USB-C cable in the box.
Sharp photos
I can take sharp photos with the 3 cameras on the back of the Samsung A54. The 50-megapixel standard lens takes high-quality photos during the day. In low light, the photos are slightly less sharp. Thanks to the wide-angle lens, I can easily photograph a large building. The Galaxy A54 doesn't have a telephoto lens, but I do notice that photos still look quite sharp when I zoom in 2 times.
Bright display
I'm impressed by the incredibly bright screen of the Samsung Galaxy A54. The screen is almost as good as that of a flagship smartphone, such as the Samsung S23. I see vibrant colors and lots of details when I watch a video on YouTube. I also notice that it looks very smooth when I scroll through my timeline on Facebook. This is thanks to the high refresh rate. This Galaxy A54 has a high-quality screen, especially for a mid-range smartphone.
Good battery life, charging takes quite long
I'm pleased with the battery life of this Samsung A54. I usually use my smartphone quite intensively and spend a lot of time on YouTube and Facebook, for example. Still, I notice that this device lasts at least a working day with intensive use. If use my smartphone less, it'll last a whole day. I'm not as satisfied when it comes to charging. With a 25W charger, I can fully charge the battery in about 1 hour. Compared to other smartphones in this price range, this is quite slow.
Smooth multitasking
I notice that with this Samsung A54, I can quickly switch between my different apps. And I can do so without the device crashing. Light and medium demanding apps like YouTube also start quickly. I can even play 3D games like World of Tanks, without the game crashing. The game doesn't start very quickly, but I can continue playing the game without any problems. For a mid-range smartphone, I'm pleasantly surprised by the processing power of this Samsung Galaxy A54.
Conclusion
I'm impressed with the Samsung Galaxy A54. This mid-range smartphone is suitable for medium-demanding tasks and takes sharp photos. The screen is of high quality and the battery lasts a long time. The only disadvantage is that it takes quite a while for the battery to fully charge.
