Expert review Polar Ignite 3
Polar Ignite 3
- Your training suggestions adjust to your sleep rhythm.
- You receive notifications and calls on your watch, so you won't miss anything.
- Thanks to heart rate zones, you can specifically work towards your workout goals.
- This fitness watch is 43mm wide, which is quite wide.
- This watch doesn't have built-in music storage, so you have to take your smartphone with you for music.
Bright and thin screen
The thin design of the Polar Ignite 3 stands out right away. This round smartwatch has a 43mm diameter. This is quite large, but it still fits around my narrow wrist. I think the AMOLED touchscreen is nice and bright. In addition, I can adjust the layout to my liking. Unfortunately, the screen doesn't always respond smoothly. If I open my smartphone notifications or quick menu, the watch always freezes for a couple of seconds.
Insight into health and sleep
The Polar ignite 3 is a real health watch. It tracks my sleep, movement, and heart rate. Based on that, I get personal workout advice for that day. I can also see my results in the Polar Flow app. After each night, I can see how my body has recovered while sleeping. I can also see my sleep phases and how often I woke up during the night. The longer I wear this Ignite, the more insight I get into my health, sleep rhythm, and fitness.
Sports and exercise
The Ignite 3 encourages me to move. It gives me a daily activity goal based on my activity level. The watch tracks my steps throughout the day. I can work out with this smartwatch as well, of course. I don't recommend this Polar for sports enthusiasts, because the watch isn't fast and extensive enough for that. If you work out every now and then, the Ignite 3 is fine. Unfortunately, the watch doesn't automatically detect when I walk or run. That's a bummer.
Battery life
Polar states that the battery life of the Polar Ignite 3 is 120 hours. I was positively surprised, because the smartwatch lasted a week. I did switch off the Always On display this week, which saves a lot of energy. I also didn't work out with the watch this week. During a workout, the Ignite 3 runs out of battery 3 times faster. This means that if you work out a couple of times a week, the battery life is much shorter.
Conclusion
Do you want to get more insight into your health and daily activity? The Polar Ignite 3 is a good choice for you. The flat design and bright screen make the watch suitable for every wrist. You get extensive insight into your sleep rhythm and can adjust your daily goals to it. The accurate sleep tracker in the Polar Flow app especially gives you a lot of insight. This Polar Ignite 3 falls a bit short for sports enthusiasts. The watch isn't extensive and fast enough for that.
