First impression of the Philips XXL HD9867/90
When I take the airfryer out of the box, the design stands out to me. I think the airfryer is nicely finished. The top is matte and the details are rose gold. This gives a luxurious appearance. The airfryer feels sturdy and reliable. In addition to the airfryer, there is a useful manual with some recipes in the box. The manual is simple and short. Great, because you have the information you need to use the airfryer right away.
Don't preheat
One of the big pros of this airfryer is that you don't have to preheat it. In addition, the time for most preparations is a lot shorter compared to an oven. Very useful, because it allows you to spend less time on cooking. The airfryer takes up quite a bit of space, but it also has a large capacity. It can easily hold a good portion of fries for 4 to 5 people. You can also fit 4 stuffed peppers or 4 muffins.
Healthier preparation
The airfryer has a double, star-shaped bottom. In combination with the air flow, it removes excess grease and moisture. This remains between the 2 plates at the bottom. This way, your preparation is even healthier and the are ingredients crispier.
Automatic settings
This airfryer has 5 smart programs. For example, it automatically calculates the correct time and temperature for frozen fries, fresh fries, fish, drumsticks, or a whole chicken. With the automatic programs for fries, the airfryer gives an audio signal halfway through to shake the fries. I'm very positive about the result. The programs are super easy to use and the fries are very crispy and not greasy at all. A disadvantage is that there are smart programs for only 5 different ingredients.
Different preparations
In addition to preparing fries and snacks in this airfryer, you can use the fryer for many more dishes. For example, I baked muffins and brownies. Because of the size, you can't bake a very large cake, but it was good for my small household. The time and temperature are different than with an oven, so you have to keep that in mind. Fortunately, there are plenty of special baking recipes for the airfryer.
Recipes in the app
Philips also has an app for the airfryer, the NutriU app. The app has all kinds of recipes. From sweet potato fries to savory pies, you'll find it all in the app. The app also has the 'What's in my fridge' function. You enter which ingredients you have at home and the app looks for recipes. In addition, you can save your favorite recipes, so you can find them quickly. You can also add your own recipes.
Conclusion
The smart programs of this airfryer are a good addition. All settings are automatically calculated and used for a tasty, crispy result. You don't have to preheat the airfryer and excess grease will be drained. In addition to fries and snacks, you can also prepare vegetables, fish, and even pies and cakes in the airfryer. You'll find inspiration for different types of dishes in the NutriU app. A small downside is that there are only 5 smart programs. I'm missing a smart program for snacks or vegetables, for example.
