Expert review of the Samsung OLED S95B

When I first take a look at the S95B, I notice the thin screen right away. The thin design of the screen is a delight to the eye, but feels quite fragile. The screen stands on a stylish and modern-looking stand. The TV includes the black, self-charging SolarCell One Remote.

The Samsung OLED S95B has a Quantum Dot layer on the OLED screen. Thanks to these tiny particles, the TV has a high brightness and wide color gamut. I directly notice this when I watch a nature documentary. The bright blue and green colors of the peacock pop on the screen thanks to the high brightness. I also recognize various tones of blue and green as a result of the wide color gamut of the screen.

Because of the OLED screen, the S95B offers a strong contrast. I notice this when I watch images of earth from out of space. The lights look bright against the dark planet. Thanks to the individually illuminating pixels behind the screen, the darker parts of the planet are really dark. In combination with the high brightness of the TV, the S95B offers a strong contrast.

When I watch television from the side, the image remains properly visible. I have no trouble following the fast actions on the screen during the Formula 1 race. That's because the light source is located close to the screen surface. I also barely experience any reflections while I watch television in a bright room, thanks to the high brightness. This makes it possible to watch TV from anywhere in the room.

The S95B has Object Tracking Sound Pro. This technique ensures that the sound follows the motions on the screen. The TV uses extra speakers for this, which are located on the sides and top of the TV. I noticed this when I watched a race, because the sound followed the motion of the car on the screen. The television offers a good listening experience while watching a concert. For a really immersive sound experience, I'd recommend a soundbar with the TV. With a soundbar, you can enjoy a deep bass that the speakers of the TV don't have.

The S95B uses the new Tizen smart menu by Samsung. Instead of the bar at the bottom of the screen, the smart menu is now screen-filling. In the menu, you'll find the tabs for the gaming and ambient menu. You can use them to quickly watch gaming videos and to display art, screensavers, and photos on the screen when you're not watching TV. On the main screen, you can watch content from different apps, so you won't have to open the apps anymore if you don't want to.

The included SolarCell One Remote is a simple remote. The remote is comfortable to hold and looks organized thanks to the small amount of buttons. The buttons for apps like Netflix and Disney+ allow you to navigate through your favorite apps even more easily. The remote charges automatically with artificial and sunlight via the solar panel on the back. Thanks to this, buying batteries is a thing of the past.
