Expert review LG FN7
LG Tone Free FN7
- Active noise canceling reduces distracting ambient noise and white noise.
- A special UV LED light in the charging case kills 99.9% of all bacteria in the charging case.
- When you put the earbuds in your ears, they connect to your phone right away.
- The noise canceling of earbuds reduces the sound less well than the noise canceling of headphones.
First impression
The first thing I notice about the earbuds is the size. The box the earbuds are in is very small. When I open the box, I see a compact charging case. LG really went for a minimalist design here.
Decent noise canceling
The noise canceling of these headphones is reasonable. It reduces monotone ambient noise well, but the earbuds struggle with unstable frequencies. It slightly reduces voices, but they're still audible. This ensures that I still prefer noise canceling headphones over noise canceling earbuds in a very loud environment.
Adjustable sound
The standard sound of these earbuds isn't very nice, in my opinion. The bass is too present, and the sound isn't very detailed as a result. As a solution, I downloaded the LG Tone Free app on my phone. This allows me to change all the settings of the earbuds. In the app, I can choose from 4 preset equalizers or create 1 myself. I can now adjust the bass, mid tones, and treble and listen to my playlists with the sound exactly the way I like it.
Sleek design
The LG FN7 has the same design as the FN4 and FN6. These earbuds look very similar to the Apple AirPods Pro, but they're slightly slimmer. I like this design, and the earbuds fit into my ears seamlessly. After use, I put the earbuds in the charging case. Thanks to the compact size of the case, it easily fits in my pocket.
Fast connection
One of the best things about these earbuds is that they connect to my smartphone fast. I simply take the earbuds out of the charging case and they connect to the last paired device right away. As a result, I can listen to my favorite songs in mere seconds.
Unique technology
There's a unique technology in the charging case that I think is pretty special. When you put your earbuds in the case after use, a special UV LED light shines on them. This light kills 99.9% of the bacteria on the earbuds. This way, the charging case prevents you getting an ear infection.
Conclusion
The LG Tone Free FN7 are noise canceling headphones with a sleek design. Because the design is sleek, the earbuds feel comfortable in my ears. They don't protrude too far, which is nice. You can completely adjust the sound to your liking in the LG Tone Free app. I recommend this, because the preset sound lacks detail. The noise canceling is reasonable, but the earbuds have trouble reducing unstable sounds like voices.
