Expert review Krups Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus KP3408

The Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus is a light, compact coffee machine with extensive functions for making coffee. The machine will automatically stop when your cups are filled with the right amount of coffee. You can easily adjust the temperature, amount of coffee, and the coffee intensity. I already was a fan of Dolce Gusto, but this one really does it for me. You'll read my experience below.

  • Thanks to the low weight and compact size, you can move the coffee machine anywhere.
  • The machine is user-friendly because of the controls and the adjustable drip tray.
  • You can make an XL cup of coffee, which is useful for on the go.
  • The machine doesn't have a drip stop, so the coffee machine may keep dripping for a while.
  • The place where you should insert the capsule is inconvenient.

First impression

First impression

I take the machine, the adjustable drip tray, manual, and a cleaning capsule out of the box. The machine looks nice to me and doesn't take up much space on my counter. You can easily detach the water tank to fill it under the faucet. The water tank isn't too large or too small in my opinion. When I lift the capsule holder, the machine turns on. Time to test the machine.

User-friendly machine with dial

The machine has a number of buttons and a dial. This doesn't take much time to figure out at all. You can make various coffees by spinning the dial and pressing a single button. With the adjustable drip tray, you can put different mugs under the machine. You can set it to 2 levels. When I keep turning the dial, I end up with the XL function and the maintenance.

Different sizes of coffee, almost silent

Since you can make different sizes of coffees, it's important that the stripes on the capsule match the stripes on the machine. For example, I set it to the second stripe for an espresso and to the fifth for a cappuccino. The way the capsule has to be inserted into the machine feels a little inconvenient, as this is done in an awkward angle. The machine starts and I notice that it's very silent. Once the coffee is done, it does keep dripping for a while.

Extra options

The nice thing about this Dolce Gusto is that it stops automatically, but this isn't the only useful function of this machine. This version has extra options. For example, you can adjust the volume, the temperature, and the coffee intensity. I count 4 temperature settings from hot to cold, and I turn on the espresso boost when I press the button with the coffee bean. To test if it works, I tasted blind. I noticed a clear difference between a regular espresso and a more intense one.

Conclusion

I'm very happy with the Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus. This more extensive version has more to offer than just preparing a coffee. The adjustable drip tray, buttons, and dial are very user-friendly. In addition, the extra functions like the espresso boost technology, XL function, and 4 temperature settings allow you to adjust your coffee according to your liking as much as possible. The machine is compact, which makes it easy to move from A to B.
