First impression of the Fitbit Sense 2
I recognize the package on my desk right away. It's the new Fitbit Sense 2. The outside shows a clear photo of the model that's in the box. Fitbit Sense 2 is available in 3 colors, but I but the black one on my wrist. It includes a second extra long strap. I have a wrist circumference of 16.5cm, so the standard strap sits comfortably around my wrist. I want to set it up right away, but my Fitbit came with an empty battery. I have to charge it first.
Track sleep
To use the Fitbit Sense 2, you need the Fitbit app. I download the app on my smartphone and create a Fitbit account. Fitbit requires you to do so. After I enter my information, I can quickly link my phone to the Sense 2. In the app, I can see how many steps I took and how many calories I burned. In addition, the Fitbit Premium subscription offers extra insights. After sleeping with the Fitbit around my wrist for 14 nights, I see that my sleep animal is a parrot. I can read what that means and what I can do to change my sleep pattern in the app.
Track activity
The Fitbit Sense 2 is a health monitor with smart functions. The smartwatch has 40 preprogrammed training modes to choose from. During my long evening walk, the Fitbit recognizes my activity and it starts my training automatically. Afterwards, I see the course of my heartrate and how many calories I burned during my walk. Unfortunately, the Sense 2 doesn't start the GPS mode automatically. This way, I can't see where exactly I walked. Luckily, I can easily activate that on the new operating system of the Fitbit 2, but it required an extra input.
Stress relief
With the Fitbit Sense, I couldn't see a pattern in my stress level. With the Fitbit 2, I can. The smartwatch constantly measures my stress level. The watch registers a change in my body and notifies me. This way, I know when it's time to watch my breathing or when to take a rest. With emoticons, I can indicate how I feel at the time of the notification. This can show a link between the response of your body and your mental health. Everything for a smile.
Smart functions
The Sense 2 can make cardiograms, measure your wrist temperature, the saturation in your blood, and your stress level. It also has useful smart functions. You can make contactless payments with Fitbit Pay and receive messages and calls of your smartphone on your watch on your wrist. Fitbit also announced that they'll add Google Wallet and Google Maps to the Fitbit Sense 2 in an update. In addition, you can soon answer phone calls directly from your wrist. You sadly can't control music apps like Spotify the Sense 2 doesn't have Google Assistant anymore.
Conclusion
The Sense 2 gives an insight into your activities and can link to your mental health. The original Sense could only register your stress level on request, but the Sense 2 registers your stress level constantly. The app shows all results neatly, but you need a paid Fitbit Premium subscription to get the most out of the Sense 2 and the app.
