High-end noise canceling
The competition for high-end noise canceling headphones just got tougher with the AirPods Max. The Sony Sony WH-1000XM4 and Bose NC700 already blew me away, and so do these headphones. With the noise canceling switched on, I can't hear any ambient noise when I listen to music. It's the same on the train, on the couch in a busy household, or in the supermarket. I can fully focus on what I'm doing and can hear my favorite songs even better.
Movie theater sound
Thanks to the surround sound, I can watch movies and series on Apple TV and Disney+ with spatial audio. I can play one of my favorite series with the surround function, and I really notice a difference. An explosion sounds grand, spatial, and has more impact. So even when I'm watching on a small screen, it's like I'm at the cinema.
Powerful and clear sound
The sound that the AirPods Max produce is exactly how I like it. It's powerful, but still clear. A bass guitar sounds extra deep, but I can still hear details in the vocals of singers. All of the tones get enough space to be able to hear them, so I can listen to a wide range of genres. From dance and rock to pop and classical music.
Luxurious headphones
In terms of design, Apple went for a luxurious look. The ear cups are made of anodized aluminum, which makes it sturdy and wear-resistant. Something you rarely see with headphones. The material of the ear cushions is memory foam, which ensures that the headphones are very comfortable when you have them on. Because Apple chose a more luxurious look, it's not as user-friendly. It doesn't have an on/off button, you can't fold it to a compact size, and the headband is fragile.
Great wearing comfort
The memory foam of the ear cushions ensures that I can listen to music for hours on end without my ears hurting. The ear cushions are soft and shape to my ears. After a very long 4 to 5-hour listening session, I have a pressing feeling on my head. That's because the headphones are a bit tight.
