Expert review of the Apple Watch Series 7

First impression
The packaging of the Apple Watch Series 7 is similar to that of previous models. When I open it, I see the same colorful watches inside the packaging. There are 2 boxes in it. One contains the watch case, some booklets, and a charging cable. The other has 2 watch straps. A long one for a wider wrist, and a short one for a slimmer wrist. I click the short watch strap onto the watch case, put the Watch Series 7 around my wrist, and set it up right away.
New colors and high durability
The Apple Watch Series 7 has a strikingly similar look to its predecessor. It looks like the Apple Watch Series 6, for the most part. The sizes are a bit different. The Series 7 is available in a 41 and 45mm version. This Apple Watch is available in the 5 colors: Midnight (a deep, dark blue), blue, green, RED, and white gold. What the watch case doesn't show is that the Watch has a higher durability. The glass on the screen is more scratch-resistant, and this model is also dustproof. It's as water-resistant as previous models as well, so it's waterproof up to a 50m depth.
Bigger, brighter screen
What stands out right away when I turn on the Apple Watch Series 7 is the large, bright screen. The screen of the Series 7 is 50% larger than that of the Series 3. That's because the black bezel around the screen is much slimmer. This way, I have more space to read my messages and use my apps. The screen is also extra bright, just like the one of the Series 6. This allows me to still comfortably read my messages when the sun shines on the screen.
Digital keyboard and 4G
With the Series 7, I can send my own personal messages to all my contacts. Thanks to the built-in digital keyboard, I can write what I want from my wrist. This way, I'm not bound to standard replies that are available on the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Series is also available with a 4G function. That means you can get an eSIM data plan for your Apple Watch. This way, you can use your mobile data directly on your Watch without your smartphone. I didn't test the 4G function, but it seems useful to make calls or use apps when I don't have my iPhone close.
Useful health functions
The Apple Watch Series 7 has various useful health functions. This model has a blood oxygen sensor. This sensor measures the oxygen level of my blood. Is the saturation level below 95%? That can indicate an upcoming cold, so I know I have to work on my immune system. The Series 7 also has an ECG heart rate monitor. This monitor makes cardiograms and it can detect atrium fibrillation. The Series 7 also has the standard health functions that are available on previous models, like a heart rate reading, sleep monitor, and fall detection.
Compatibility with accessories
The straps of my older Apple Watch still fit on this Apple Watch model. That means 38 and 40mm Apple Watch straps still fit on the 41mm Apple Watch. The charging cable is different with the Apple Watch Series 7. It's a USB-C cable. I didn't have a USB-C adapter at home, so I had to buy one separately. The older Apple Watch charging cables also work with the Apple Watch Series 7.
Conclusion
With the release of the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple brings the smartwatch series to a higher level. The large screen has more space to read messages. Thanks to the higher durability, the Apple Watch Series 7 lasts longer without scratches or damage due to dust. Thanks to the blood oxygen sensor, I can keep track of my health more accurately.
