Release date: 9 November 2022
The release date of God of War Ragnarök was on 9 November 2022, so the game is now available at Coolblue. Developer Santa Monica Studio postponed the game a couple of times, because they needed more time for the finishing touch. This game is the successor to the God of War game from 2018. That version is known as one of the best PlayStation games of all times. The expectations for the game are high, as it's supposed to reach the same results as its predecessor.
PS5 features
The PlayStation 5 edition of God of War Ragnarök is made for the features of the PS5. The Norse worlds will come to life more thanks to the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the controller. The PlayStation 5 version also has Spatial 3D audio, so you'll hear your opponents come from any angle. Make sure you have a headset with Spatial 3D audio or surround sound for this. You can choose between 2 graphic settings. You can play God of War Ragnarök in 4K resolution at 30 fps or in 4K resolution at 60 fps. The latter is the so-called performance mode.
The 9 worlds
As in the previous God of War, Ragnarök takes place in the 9 worlds of the Norse mythology. While you had access to 6 out of 9 worlds in the previous game, Ragnarök now takes place in all 9. This means you can also travel to Vanaheim, Svartalvheim, and Asgard. In addition, the old worlds are being expanded with new locations. Santa Monica Studio says you'll have enough reasons to travel back and forth between these worlds.
Father and son
The story of Ragnarök takes place 3 years after God of War and focuses on the Norse mythology. Kratos and his son Atreus are up against the Norse gods Freya and Thor during the last days of the Fimbulwinter. The prediction is that Ragnarök, as a kind of end of times, will take place during the end of the winter. As Kratos and Atreus, it's your goal to stop this from happening. During the battle, the father and son relation will be under pressure.
