Screen and size
S20 FE: 6.5-inch Full HD screen, 120Hz
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has a 6.5-inch Full HD screen. The large size is very suitable for watching movies, but it's difficult to operate the device with 1 hand. The display has a refresh rate of 120Hz. This means that the image refreshes 120 times per second. This makes animations look very smooth. You'll notice it when you play a game, but also when you scroll through your Instagram timeline.
S10 Plus: 6.4-inch Quad HD, 60Hz
The 6.4-inch Quad HD screen of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is sharper than that of the S20 FE. On the other hand, it has a lower refresh rate of 60Hz. This is twice as slow, making animations look less smooth than on the S20 FE. This means that your gaming experience may not be as good. The S10 Plus is slightly more manageable with a screen size of 6.4 inches, but controlling the device with 1 hand is still a challenge.
Cameras
S20 FE: 3x optical zoom, record in 8K
The S20 Fan Edition has 3 advanced cameras that allow you to take beautiful photos. The 12-megapixel standard lens has a large image sensor. This allows the camera to catch a lot of light, so you can take sharp photos. With the 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, large buildings also fit completely into your photo. The 8-megapixel telephoto lens has 3x optical zoom, so you can zoom in 3 times without quality loss. You can record videos in high 8K quality.
S10 Plus: variable aperture, record in 4K
The 12-megapixel standard lens of the S10 Plus has a variable aperture. The aperture automatically lets the right amount of light through, so your photos are never over or underexposed. On the other hand, the image sensor is smaller. This means you can't see as many details as on the S20 FE. The S10 Plus also has a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens. You can zoom in twice with this last lens without losing quality. You record in 4K quality.
Performance
S20 FE: powerful processor, 4500mAh battery
With a powerful processor, the S20 FE is suitable for demanding tasks. You can use most apps without problems. The smartphone is even suitable for demanding 3D games. You can choose from a model with a storage capacity of 128GB and 6GB RAM or a model with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM. With the latter model, you can switch between different apps even faster. The 4500mAh battery can easily last a day without charging in between and supports fast charging at 25W.
S10 Plus: suitable for the most demanding tasks, 4100mAh battery
With the Samsung Exynos 990 processor and 8GB RAM, the S10 Plus is slightly stronger than the S20 FE. You can use 3D games and demanding apps like Photoshop without the device slowing down. Thanks to 8GB RAM, you can also switch quickly between different apps. This is useful when you need to multitask regularly. Whether it lasts until the end of the day with the 4100mAh battery depends on your usage. It supports fast charging, but it's a little less fast than the S20 FE at 15W.
Future-proof
S20 FE: 5G option, updates until 2022
The S20 FE is available in both a 4G and 5G version. The 5G version is slightly more expensive, but your smartphone is suitable for the new and fast 5G network that is currently being rolled out. You'll need a 5G phone plan from your provider. Samsung also supports software updates until Android 13 (2022) appears. You're expected to receive security updates at least until October 2022.
S10 Plus: 4G only, updates until 2021
When the S10 Plus came out, the 5G network didn't exist yet. That's why this device is only available in a 4G version, which doesn't support the new 5G network. The S10 Plus is a bit older, so Samsung will support updates for a shorter amount of time. You can update the software until Android 12 in 2021. You're expected to receive security updates until February 2021.
