AU9080: Crystal Color and Dual LED

The Samsung AU9080 has a Crystal Color screen. This means that the television displays subtle color details in a realistic way, especially with HDR images. Thanks to the Dual LED backlight, the TV has a strong contrast. This technology switches between a cold blue and a warmer red backlight. That way, the TV provides a more precise color temperature that enhances the contrast.

Image quality Samsung AU8000

AU8000: Crystal Color

The AU8000 also has a Crystal Color screen, but it doesn't have a Dual LED backlight. This is why the contrast is slightly weaker than the contrast of the AU9080. With the AU8000, you benefit from the HDR support for HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. This means you can watch movies and series with many subtle color tones, on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, for example.

Image quality AU7100

AU7100: Crystal Color

Just like the AU8000, the AU7100 doesn't have Dual LED technology. This television does show many subtle color tones thanks to Crystal Color technology and HDR support. The AU7100 supports the same HDR formats as the other 2 TVs, so movies and series on many streaming platforms are look realistic.

Extra functions and accessories

One Remote Control Samsung AU9080

AU9080: extensive TV with Ambient Mode

With the AU9080, you'll never have a black screen in your room. Ambient Mode displays atmospheric images when you don't use the TV and consumes less energy than with regular use when it does so. You control the TV with the One Remote Control. In addition to the stylish look of the remote, it's also very user-friendly. You can easily connect it to your peripherals, like your soundbar or Blu-ray player. That way, you only need 1 remote.

One Remote Control Samsung AU8000

AU8000: Ambient Mode and One Remote Control

The AU8000 has the same extra functions as the AU9080. This TV also has the convenient Ambient Mode function for when you don't want a black screen in your room. You can also create a nice ambiance in your living room when friends or family come over. You control the AU8000 with the One Remote Control, which looks very stylish and minimalistic.

Remote AU7100

AU7100: less extensive television

The AU7100 misses a few of the extra functions that the other 2 televisions do have. For example, you can't benefit from Ambient Mode with this TV and you control it with a less luxurious remote. The AU7100 does have the extensive Tizen smart menu and Samsung TV Plus, just like the other TVs. With this, you can watch all kinds of free channels with sports, movies, series, and the news.

Design

Samsung AU9080 design

AU9080: thin screen on wide white stand

The thin screen of the AU9080 leans on a wide stand. This stand has 2 connected legs. Because the stand is concave-shaped, your vision isn't blocked and you won't be distracted. The stand, the back, and the edge around the screen are white. Thanks to the Air Slim Design, the screen is particularly thin. The thickest part of the screen is only 25mm.

Samsung AU8000 design

AU8000: thin screen on 2 small leg stands

The AU8000 has the Air Slim Design as well, which means the thickest part of the screen is only 25mm thick. In contrast to the AU9080, the AU8000 is a black TV. The screen leans on 2 slim leg stands, which are barely visible when you're right in front of the TV. A great advantage of the legs is that you can easily adjust the height. That way, you'll always have room for a soundbar under the screen. The legs of the 75-inch and 85-inch models are also adjustable horizontally. That way, you can easily place this large screen on a smaller TV unit.

Design Samsung AU7100

AU7100: 2 stylish leg stands

The AU7100 has 2 thin leg stands pointing outwards. Just like with the AU8000, the casing of the TV and the leg stands are both black. The screen 6cm thick, which is slightly thicker than with the other 2 televisions. Because of this, the TV hangs less closely to the wall when you mount it.

Gaming

Gaming Samsung AU9080

AU9080: smooth gaming thanks to FreeSync

The AU9080 provides a smooth gaming experience. The TV supports AMD FreeSync. Thanks to this, you won't experience stuttering or freezing images when you play games from a console, like the PlayStation or Xbox. With the Multi View function, you can watch images from multiple sources on the screen. That way, you can play your game and watch a YouTube video from someone playing the same game at the same time.

Gaming Samsung AU8000

AU8000: low input lag and smooth images

The AU8000 has less functions to improve gaming. But it does have a low input lag of 15 milliseconds, just like the AU9080. This means you'll barely notice any delay between the buttons you press on your controller and the action on screen. The powerful Crystal Processor improves the motion sharpness of the images of your console. That way, your game will look smooth and realistic.

Gaming Samsung AU7100

AU7100: low input lag

The AU7000 also has a low input lag of less than 15 milliseconds. That way, your opponent is never a step ahead of you. The AU7000 also has the Crystal Processor, so images look smooth. The AU7000 doesn't support AMD FreeSync, unlike the AU9080.

Conclusion

Which of these 3 televisions suits you best depends on your usage situation. Are you a real gamer? The AU9080 is a good choice for you thanks to the AMD FreeSync support. Please note that this TV is only available in 2 smaller sizes. The AU8000 has slightly more functions than the AU7100, like the Ambient Mode. You can also use the luxurious One Remote Control with this television.
