Screen and glass
Garmin Instinct Solar: OLED Power Glass
The Always On OLED screen of the Garmin Instinct Solar is covered by a Power Glass lens. This lens ensures sunlight can reach the solar thermal collectors in the screen through the glass. Other glass types, such as mineral glass or sapphire glass, are less suitable for this. Power Glass is about equally as strong as tempered glass or Gorilla Glass and is scratch resistant.

Battery life
Garmin Instinct Solar: up to 24 days
Because the Garmin Instinct Solar charges itself using solar power, the battery lasts a lot longer. The solar technique ensures the watch lasts up to 24 days on a single charge. And thanks to useful functions such as the expedition mode and Power Manager, you can further extend the battery life. In Expedition Mode, the battery even lasts longer than 2 months if the solar thermal collectors absorb enough sunlight. This means you barely have to charge the Garmin Instinct Solar manually.
Garmin Instinct: up to 14 days
The Garmin Instinct doesn't have solar thermal collectors and doesn't charge itself during use. The battery of the watch will run out after 14 days. This watch also lasts longer in expedition mode. The watch does use GPS in this mode, but uses less energy. The Power Manager function allows you to see how your settings use energy. You can adjust your settings yourself so your battery lasts longer.
