Cleaning your car with a high-pressure cleaner
What do you need?
What you need to clean your car:
- A bottle of cleaner.
- A spray nozzle (adjustable)
- A rotary nozzle (optional)
- (Rotary) washing brush
- Wheel brush (optional)
- Car shampoo
Not all high-pressure cleaners have a special washing brush. You need that to clean your car without scratches. That's why you can see which high-pressure cleaners are most suitable for your car here.
Step 1: clean
Before you clean your car, always check if your high-pressure cleaner and all its parts are connected properly. Also check if the washing brush and wheel brush are clean. If there's sand or other dirt in them, they'll damage the paint on your car.
Step 2: pre-rinse
Rinse your car. You can do that with the lightest setting on the spray nozzle. You don't have to use cleaner for this. You remove small sand particles when you pre-rinse, which prevents damage to the paint on your car.
Step 3: use a cleaner
Spray your wheels and very dirty areas with car cleaner and let it soak for at least 3 minutes. Don't just use any detergent, because that can damage the paint. Clean the wheels with a wheel brush and rinse the wheels when you're rinsing the rest of the car. Are there a lot of insects on your windshield, headlights, or number plate? Spray insect remover on these areas and leave it for 3 minutes again.
Step 4: clean with a washing brush
Now use your washing brush to brush away the dirt from your car. Don't apply pressure to the brush, but move it with gentle motions. Many washing brushes rotate automatically, so you don't have to do that yourself. With washing brushes that don't rotate automatically, you have to make gentle back and forth motions yourself.
Step 5: Rinsing
Rinse the car with the rotary nozzle or the spray nozzle. Make sure there's at least a 20cm distance between the nozzle and your car, so you don't damage the paint of your car. Rinse the car from top to bottom and don't forget the wheels.
