How do you clean your airfryer?
Get started with cleaning
We've gathered a number of useful tips, so you can easily clean your airfryer.
- Step 1: clean the basket.
- Step 2: clean the inner pan
- Step 3: clean the heating element
- Step 4. clean the exterior
- Step 5: extra fresh result
Tip 1: clean the basket
You put the snacks in the basket, which means some food rests will remain there. That's why you first have to soak the basket for 10 minutes in a tub with hot water and some dish soap. Afterwards, you can clean the basket on all sides with a soft sponge or brush. We don't recommend using abrasive sponges or degreasers. These will damage the non-stick coating.
Tip 2: clean the inner pan
The inner pan is beneath the basket and collects the juice that comes from the food. You can clean the inner pan with a soft sponge, hot water, and a little bit of dish soap. Again, you shouldn't use an abrasive sponge to prevent the coating from damaging. After cleaning, you can dry the pan with a cleaning cloth.
Tip 3: clean the heating element
To prevent your airfryer from spreading a burnt smell, you'll need to wipe grease stains off the heating element. Remove the connector from the socket and place the airfryer upside down on the table. Open the drawer of the airfryer so you can easily reach the heating element. Dampen a soft sponge with hot water and some dish soap and squeeze it well. Clean the element thoroughly. You can scrub more difficult corners with an old toothbrush. Dry the heating element with a cleaning cloth.
Tip 4: clean the exterior
With an airfryer, you won't be bothered by splashes of oil on the casing. That's because there's no oil inside the appliance. This means it's enough to wipe the exterior with a damp cloth, and perhaps with some cleaner. Don't use an abrasive sponge, as this will produce scratches. Dry the outside with a cleaning cloth to prevent drying up.
Tip 5: for an extra fresh result
Doesn't the airfryer smell very clean after you're done with it? Gently rub the basket and the inner pan with some lemon juice. This makes the frying odors disappear. Cut a lemon in half and rub the basket with one half and the inner pan with the other half. Let the parts sit for half an hour so the lemon juice can do its job. Afterwards, rinse the parts with lukewarm water and dry them with a cleaning cloth.
Dishwasher-safe parts
Think the above steps are too much effort? If so, you can also clean the basket and inner pan in the dishwasher. Keep in mind that the non-stick coating wears more quickly and that some parts may become dull if you do so. On top of that, you'll also need to manually clean the heating element and the casing, since these aren't dishwasher-safe.
