Which wired or wireless speakers are suitable for my situation?
Wired: socket and audio cable
HiFi speakers with receiver without streaming option
You'll lose the least amount of quality with the audio file, because you make a wired connection to the source. Think of playing via CDs, records, or USB.
Stereo sets
A stereo set is the complete package deal. It's a simple solution for good quality. The sound comes from both left and right so you get a realistic sound reproduction.
Soundbars
A soundbar improves the sound of your TV. But you can also use it to stream music. With a soundbar that isn't smart, you connect the source via a cable so you'll lose less quality. The disadvantage is that you'll have to run cables and perhaps a subwoofer or rear speakers as well.
Wireless: socket, stream wirelessly
WiFi speakers
WiFi speakers are smart speakers that you can stream music to wirelessly. You do have to connect a WiFi speaker to AC power. You can link multiple speakers to each other wirelessly via WiFi for a stereo pair or a surround or multi-room setup.
HiFi speakers with receiver with streaming options
You can plug these HiFi speakers into a socket, but you can also connect them wirelessly to your playback device. Think of AirPlay, Bluetooth, or WiFi. Do keep in mind that you'll lose a certain amount of quality in that case.
Smart soundbars
As described above, a soundbar improves the sound of your television. A smart soundbar has WiFi and/or Bluetooth. You can stream wirelessly to the soundbar and connect multiple devices wirelessly. This allows you to create a surround or multi-room setup.
Wireless: no socket, stream wirelessly
WiFi speakers with battery and Bluetooth
If a WiFi speaker also has a rechargeable battery and Bluetooth, you can use it both as a WiFi and Bluetooth speaker. This means you can connect it to your soundbar or other WiFi speakers at home. You can also take the speaker with you to the beach or the park, thanks to the battery and the Bluetooth connection.
Bluetooth speakers
With a Bluetooth speaker, you only need a socket to charge the speaker. The speaker is completely wireless in use. Thanks to the battery and Bluetooth connection, you can easily take your speaker with you anywhere you go. Consider the size in advance so you can be sure the speaker fits in your bag.
