Which fitting do you need?

There are 3 regular fittings. You can choose between a large fitting, small fitting, or a spot. We call a large fitting an E27 and a small fitting an E14. We divide spots into GU10 and MR16 lights. In this article, you can read about which fitting you need.

Looking for a large fitting?

Light with E27 fitting

The standard fitting that fits most fixtures is the E27. That's the indication for the connection between the fitting and the fixture. The letter E stands for Edison screw thread, named after the inventor. The number 27 stands for the width of the screw thread, as the diameter is 27mm. Thanks to the screw thread, you can easily twist the light source in and out of the fixture. Keep in mind to let the light source cool off after it's been on.

Do you need a small fitting?

Light with E14 fitting

The E14 fitting was also invented by Edison and is referred to as the small fitting. The E14 LED lights have a thin screw thread with a 14mm diameter. We often find these spot lights in mood lighting like table lamps or in other places that don't require much light. The pear and candle shapes are signature E14 lights.

Are you looking for a light for your spot?

Lamp with GU10 fitting and MR16 fitting

Spot lights have a different type of fitting as you click the light bulb into the fitting. GU10 spots click and turn. MR16 spots have 2 smaller pins. You simply stick these in. GU10 lamps and MR16 spotlights aren't interchangeable, so check carefully which fitting you have. Spots are mainly used in recessed lighting such as ceiling spot lights.
