How do you choose a cookware set?
Choose cookware set
Before you choose a cookware set, you should keep the following things in mind. Ask yourself the following questions, so you can make the right choice.
- On which heat source do you cook?
- What size should the pans be?
- Which useful functions do you find important?
Which heat source are you cooking on?
Not every pan is suitable for every heat source. We distinguish the following heat sources, gas, induction, ceramic, electric, and the oven. Do you cook on gas, an electric, or ceramic cooktop? Any cooking pot is suitable. If you use an induction cooktop, it's important that the bottom of the pan is magnetic. Otherwise, the pan doesn't make contact with the plate and turns off. Pans with a plastic handle can't be used in the oven, because the handle might melt.
How large should your pans be?
A cookware set often includes different cooking pots. For example, you can cook pasta sauce in a small cooking pot and spaghetti in a larger one. It's important that the pans are large enough for your preparations. Otherwise, chances are the pan gets too full and ingredients don't cook properly.

- 2 - 4L: pasta for 3 people
- 5 - 6L: pasta for 5 people
- 6 - 7L: pasta for 6 people
Which useful functions do you find important?
Pouring system
Some pans have a pouring system. This allows you to lock the lid to safely and easily pour liquids. Useful, because you don't need an extra strainer and the lid doesn't move while pouring the liquids.
Cool handle
Pot holders are a thing of the past if your pan has cool handles. The handle stays cool, so you can safely bring the pan to the dining table.
Storage system
Most cookware sets have a useful storage system. This allows you to neatly stack the pans after cooking. Useful, because they take up little room in your kitchen cabinets that way.
